This instruction worked like a charm on my 2013 Lexus. No issues! Ordered the cable for $28, ordered the replacement FOB for $78 (spent more since I wanted one close to the original), got the free software and installed on my mac no problem. Had it programmed and working in 30 minutes. Saved me $400 extra dollars!!! since the dealership was going to charge me $570!!
On step 15 in the link above, I used the new key to touch the "Engine Start" button. I heard a beep. (Was it supposed to be one beep or two beeps? Many RU-vid videos indicate two beeps. But the link above indicate one beep). On step 16 in the link above, I put the new key on the passenger seat. After a moment, Techstream said registration failed, gave a list of possible causes, such as "two or more keys in the car", "the key already registered", "low battery", etc. None of them applied to my scenario
No option to put the windows back up using the remote key other than inserting it into the driver's door, turning right, and holding until the windows fully close.
also i heard about lexus key they said, the key must be re-virginized ? i picked up a used key from someone that has been program before, if i program this used key to my car will it work?
No, for the newer lexus and toyota smart keys, you need a passcode that is generated by the dealer or an authorized locksmith. Chances of them doing that for you are quite low tho.
Like another person, I only got one beep on the new Lexus OEM key I was trying to program. I put that "new" key in the seat. I made sure the physical key was not in the FOB. TechStream continued with registration failed. I'm at a loss. Any suggestions?
