It would help for people doing videos to do a check of their audio level by doing a test run! This entire video almost became worthless because the audio level is so low!!!!

I have an APX 7000. I can’t figure out why I can’t program a scan button. It’s in red for any of my compatible button options. I have 1 scan list right now and it’s only 5 channels just to get me started. It’s a conventional UHF2 set of frequencies. Any guidance is appreciated, thank you!

@@w2ort I was originally trying to learn the APX CPS, that's how I stumbled upon your video. All of the fire, police, and EMS in the county are right in the middle of a switch from analog to P25 trunked. I've heard that unless you've been issued a radio ID, you can't even monitor the system on an APX radio. Do you know if that's true? It's not encrypted and I've been listening on a scanner and SDR. It's all on the CNYICC system.

@@w2ort so does the radio transmit data saying that it's been powered on or whatever? Is it legal to use non-affiliate scan without permission?

@@ethanpatchen4113 NAS is a type of scanning so its legal up until your radio transmits. Theres a very specific, careful way to program the radio so that it doesnt transmit/affiliate.

P25 does not support texting, only status updates. You would enable the STATUS menu option and be able to send status messages over a talkgroup.

How do I find out about how to get the Wi-Fi to be activated to use it??? 2 would it be possible to program it from the computer to the actual handheld two-way with the cord... And if you can do it with the cord how would that work???????.........

To get a feature activated you want to talk to motorola about a flashcode upgrade.... however you do not need wifi to program without a cable. Simply turn on bluetooth in the radio, pair it with your device, and then program over bluetooth on the CPS.

@W2ORT Hello good night could you help me, I created a Zone with six channels in the Astro system, CF4M and I wanted to add the emergency button function and sending GPS location between radio are three radios, but I am having difficulties the emergency function works but only in repeater mode so when a radio sends the emergency signal neither a radio receives because it sends the signal in repeater mode, could you help me with an intrusive video. @W2ORT does the APX 6000 require a USB flashkey or button for regular firmware updates like the astro25 line or they just used for flash feature upgrades?

no key needed. you just "refresh" the radio thru the cps after selecting the firmware update file.

Haha yes that is where I am stationed. It is currently analog but they are switching to phase 2 P25.

Its an XE RSM 500 if I remember correctly. It works great! APX and XPR accessories are generally compatible with each other.

Make sure you are not using a RX only personality.

Is there an option to change vhf or uhf on the 2 way radio settings software. Also does the antenna has the option to change by switching the antennas to a vhf or uhf antenna

Do you know how to set up DTMF non-Astro quick commands? For example; a basic repeater controller.. I’ve programmed my XTS, but APX seems quite different.

@@w2ort On XTS it’s considered DTMF system that would then be assigned in the personality. You’d access the DTMF contact/code via PAGE function.

@@w2ort yes, precisely. On XTS5000, I’d select “Page”, which would them show my predetermined list. I’d scroll to the desired aliased code, press PTT and it sends.

Do you have any idea how to turn off an option? I need to program on the a type 2 system but I only see options for astro, mdc, and quik call... I need to turn off the open air interface but i do not know how..

If you are trying to program an existing channel into a dynamic zone, you can do that within the radio. If you are trying to program a new channel that is not in the current codeplug, you must use the software.

First you have to create the type of system it will be on the software, then create a personality that will work with that system. There is where you will insert your channel information. After that you can assign the channel to a zone.@@jackofmosttrades9127

You need to set up an MDC system and set it to either pre (before) or post (after)... or both. Once you create the MDC system (set the id to your choosing) you need to assign it to the zone you intend to have that PTT tone.

This radio is about a year and half new for me, got it to work on MURS and monitor EMS best portable ever just trying to get Tx to Chirp when PTT lol Got low battery warning Tx voice end tone This TX Chirp for PTT is puzzling

@@JosephMcPherson0729 Is the zone set to secure voice or astro? Also your signal type needs to be set to non-astro. Check your MDC system and make sure that says MDC as well and not ASTRO.

I've personally never keyed a motorola, for harris its a separate software that you need to input the key. You will need a KVL of sorts. I'm not too well versed on moto keying im sorry.
