Hi, I’m thrilled that I found your channel! The 1st video I watched was about what to do when your new plants arrive by mail. I now see why some of my plants have not done well. I’ve been growing succulents for years, but recently I’ve tried buying some cuttings through the mail. I’ve done this twice now a few have done ok, but I’ve lot a lot of them. The cuttings I’ve received were just that cuttings no roots at all. Should I be doing the thinks I seen in this video to have a better chance at them growing? I will be watching your other videos. Thanks so much for making these videos. I just really wish I would have found you sooner.

I did try that and still occasionally do. But after so many trial and error I don’t know if you all have ever tried the needle and thread method? I needle and thread about 70 to 80 leaves at a time and then I hang them in my window turning them throughout the week. I found this method to be the best because it uses less space than anything and it’s out of all the other ways I’ve tried the easiest and grows in a pretty quick manner. I now sell professionally through this method

@Drizzleswag
@Drizzleswag 2 года назад
I followed the paper towel method and eater method. The water method has way more roots, it's like a tail. Do you just bury all those roots or do you keep it growing in water? Two of three in water have roots and ones just growing slow. The two on paper towels both have double babies on one leaf!
@SucculentsBox
@SucculentsBox 2 года назад
Hi there, You can bury all those roots in soil, but remember that with water propagation, when you eventually pot them in soil, the "water roots" you initially grew have to converted to "soil roots". Because water roots are fragile, many die off during the process, so it's best to introduce soil gradually. Hope this helps

Hello, I’m confused as to what to do after propagation? You say the roots are different if propagated in water so where we should put them when they start growing?
@SucculentsBox
@SucculentsBox 2 года назад
Hi there, with water propagation if you want to transplant your succulent from water to soil, it’s highly recommended to wait until the cutting has at least an inch-long root or the mother leaf has started to dry out, then allowing it to air-dry on a paper towel for about a day or two. And yes, we did say that the water roots are different from the soil roots since they're more fragile. Therefore, you should handle them with care and and gradually introduce them to soil.

@@SucculentsBox How do you gradually introduce roots to soil?
@bhumphries1360
@bhumphries1360 2 года назад
@@sofiamalin9684 I am not sure why they didn't explain this a bit better to you. But when first introducing water propagated roots to soil, you want to make sure they stay moist a little longer than soil propagated roots. This is because the roots are used to being in water, and you need to slowly transition them to soil. They were right about making sure that your roots a pretty long. Long roots tend to be thicker and stronger, therefore they are much more adaptable to change. Then, once they are put in soil from water, water them a little more than you would soil propagated roots. Then, after a few months, slowly go back to a normal soil rooted routine. I don't recommend doing this in the late fall, to winter months. This is best done in mid spring to summer months. That way when you are introducing those roots to soil, you will have less chances with root rot.

What type of water do I use while progagating the leaf ot the succulent
@SucculentsBox
@SucculentsBox 2 года назад
Hi, you can use either distilled or rainwater. If you must use tap water, leave it for 48 hours to allow the salts and contaminants to evaporate. Fluoride is especially dangerous to early cuttings because it goes through the plant in the water and settles on the leaf edges.

Also, can you consider placing it in a sunny area/window instead of filtered light? Usually, this process can take from 2-6 weeks for roots to sprout, so you can wait for some more days.
