I love all the cues you give . Even though this video is for thoracic extension this exercise really teaches me also how to focus on hip extension while keeping the spine neutral or not going in sway back or extending from lower spine when hands go up.

this one I get what it wants to do but my thoracic seems to be totally numb and immobile :(

Should we aim to have our shoulder posture throughout the day be the “set” position of the shoulders established with the roller?

To some degree. It's more the sensation of having "set" shoulders that you're looking for and mimicking that throughout the day. That exercise provides a sense of having the scapula flush on the ribs which they ideally should be throughout the course of the day.
