As a regular cannabis consumer I have found that when I quit for a while I go into a mental overdrive at night which makes it tough to fall sleep. My dreams also become extremely vivid and just plain weird. This lasts a couple of weeks.

Hey Doc, your comment about strains having THC being 85% isn't correct. Most strains are usually less than 20% with some claiming to be up to 30%
@TheSleepDoctor

On the labels they say 98%? So how do you tell the difference?
@davidbonar5190
@davidbonar5190 3 месяца назад
i'm guessing, but i think the 20-30% THC is the proportion to the total dry mass (ripe buds, hash), the 85% or 98% THC is the ratio to total amount THC+CBD (100%), with corresponding 15% and 2% CBD, respectively

Super helpful video! When you're using weed for sleep it's important to choose the right strain. Indica strains are often associated with relaxation and sedation, making them a common choice for sleep. Remember, everyone's response to weed is different, and what works for one person may not work for another. It's important to listen to your body, start with low doses, and make adjustments as needed to find the right approach for your sleep needs. Thanks for sharing this great information with us, Dr. Michael! 🙌❤👍

Thank you for this very informative video. When you say little THC and more CBN and CBD can you give a ratio. Thank you.

I use a CBN/CBD gummy at bedtime. No THC, no smoking. It's OK, but not as good as Xanax.

Thank you, very helpful information! I had tried many supplements w/ limited success, used a prescription in the past. Found a gummie product with low THC, CBN, CBD, L-theanine, & 1 mg of melatonin. That combo worked well for me. Use it occasionally, your sleep tips & chronotype info helped as well.

I have CPTSD. I can tell you that CBN makes my nightmares MANY times worse. CBD does nothing at all for me. THC reduces my nightmares quite a bit but as soon as I have 1 , I can’t get back to sleep most of the time. I take oral dose right as I get into bed , so that usually, I’m asleep BEFORE I get the intoxication.

In our clinic we would refer you to Dream Therapy first, and consider cannabis but very specifically. You need to speak to a specialist.

Cotton mouth makes me thirsty then just as I'm about to fall asleep, damn got to go to bathroom, its been my habit for about ten years, I have been smoking weed since 1976 but I do it at night now that I am old and it helps a lot!! I am very experienced with weed and there is a sweet spot with weed, I smoke a bowl. Or decarb my weed and put it in a capsule to take two hours before bed. Just smoke some natural regular strain, a couple hours before you rest.

Remember Cannabis makes your HR increase and reduces REM sleep, so you dont want to just "smoke" and smoking is not good for you either.

It has to do with terpenes
@BPrim-ce5zw
@BPrim-ce5zw 3 месяца назад
Terpenes are the cannabis industries last stand for marketing. I’ve smoked a small field and it’s legal here so I get full profiles on strain and terpenes. I’ve run the experiment many times and find other variables affect my perception. Most notably the wake and bake. Lots of energy and creativity with any terpene profile when you wake and bake. If you smoke all day no creative energizing terpenes will keep you from dragging ass by mid afternoon. It’s an Easy experiment to run yourselves with the help of a friend. Get them to roll them for you and not tell you what it is. Frequency, THC strength, wake and bake, how you feel before you smoke, these all contribute. The stoned mind seems very suggestive.

Is there any certificate organic cannabis available? Would like to try this but without the synthetic chemicals added to the growing or processing of the plant

This seems to be something that is new to the industry. but YES, there are some that report no pesticide use, etc.
@AGenerationJones

It’s called weed for a reason. If you’ve ever grown it, you’d know it doesn’t attract many insects, and it starts to smell like skunk as it ripens that keeps insects away. I doubt growers need to use any pesticides on them, but I’m not a commercial grower.

Dear Sleep doctor! I have had chronic insomnia for many years! No medication is working for me! Do you have any options! I am not in stress, pain or anxiety, but I cannot sleep at all! Please let me know if you can help! Kim

Hi Kim, I cant give out medical advice over the internet, but you may want to see a sleep specialist. Check out www.sleepcenters.org and put in your zip code. It will tell you where teh accredited centers are in your area and they all should have an insomnia specialist.
