Hi there lovely people. In this video, I talk about The Ordinary's new soothing and barrier support serum. I love this new product launch as it contains fab ingredients like centella asiatica, ceramides, niacinamide and ginger root extract. More and more Western brands are looking to Korea when it comes to product ingredients as they definitely have more of a holistic approach to skincare utilizing traditional ingredients that have been used in medicine/skincare for thousands of years. K-beauty has really changed my outlook on skincare and I think that Korean’s have a very healthy way of approaching self-care and aging.
In this video, I explain why we would need a product like this. I also talk about its ingredients and I also explain what products we can and cannot utilize this with.

Thank you so much for this video. No one is explaining how to use this product in a routine. My face has broke out detrimentally in the past two days within using this product and that’s because I was still you niacinamide 10% and hyaluronic acid and it’s ruined my skin overnight practically. So if you have any advice as to how this product interacts with acne would be amazing because it’s completely destroyed my face due to the over use of the ingredients

Hi Cassandra. I am sorry to hear that this has really irritated your skin. Perhaps it's a case of too much niacinamide (if you are also using another product containing niacinamide) as many people's skin can't tolerate it. This product by The ordinary is supposed to soothe the skin but it is obviously not doing that for you. I would immediately stop using it and give yourself a break from the product and also the other niacinamide product. Do you double cleanse? That really helps me when I am suffering from breakouts. Also, I find Innisfree Green Tea Hyaluronic moisturizer great when I am suffering from acne. Green tea has great anti-inflammatory properties.

Hey love the video! Quick note, I don’t think you’re supposed to pair it with vitamin c because the two reacts to each other. I have really sensitive skin, so I had to double check on what to pair it with

Thank you for taking the time to comment. Yes you can use it with the ordinary’s niacinamide. However, I would not use it with any direct acids such as glycolic or salicylic acids or vitamin c. I hope that helps.

can I use it before Tretinoin to reduce skin peeling? I've tried to use it in the morning, but it is too rich and started to break me out. I am trying to incorporate it into evening routine

Thank you for taking the time to comment. Yes, you can use it before Tretinoin to reduce irritation. I always use it at night as I use a Vitamin C serum in the morning and it's best not to mix it with vitamin C. There should be no problem mixing it with tretinoin, however. I hope that helps!! xxx

You should try it and see if the combo irritates your skin. I use this serum with Vit C and it's okay for me.

im using it with the ordinary serum Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 and at the end i apply the ordinary Moisturizing Factors + HA, but the soothing barrier serum is peeling off and everywhere on my face there is pink fluff

Thank you for taking the time to comment. I think the problem is with the Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5. When I apply that on its own, it often leaves a veil on my face and it peels off on its own. Maybe eliminate that from your routine for a couple of days and see how you get on. I hope that helps :-)

Yes you can use the barrier support serum first, then the retinol and then a good moisturiser. Hope that helps 😃✨

@@AllThatGlows Thanks. All the guides say to use this before Retinol which I also have from the ordinary but every time i use the barrier support first and then retinol, I get skin pilling, so unsure what I’m doing wrong! Thanks anyway

I only cleanse my face at night (as I wear Makeup and SPF during the day). In the morning time, I don't cleanse my face and I just apply my serums/creams and spf etc :-) I hope that helps!

Sorry to hear that this product is irritating your skin. k-beauty products are really great for people who suffer from sensitive skin. Innisfree, Beauty of Joseon and Missha have great soothing products with fab ingredients such as centella asiatica, snail mucin, rice green tea etc to calm and sooth the skin. Hmmmm...I found this product very sticky! Not a great product to use under make-up for me.
