Just what I was looking for, but how do you set two or even three keys
@TheFreelanceChannel

Hi @ivorbiggen9599 Apparently there's no way to create a duplicate security key and all we can add is an authenticator app only.

@@TheFreelanceChannel nice video, so if pick yubikey as main 2f2, what happens if i lose the key, can i still use sms ?

Yes, you will still be able to use the other 2FA you've setup in case you lose the key.

New to security keys here, but if I wanted to add a second yubikey to PayPal, I would just click “add another device”?
@TheFreelanceChannel
@TheFreelanceChannel Год назад
Hi Josh, you can only add one security key in Paypal.

@@TheFreelanceChannel That's crazy. What happens if I lose the key? SMS messages can be faked which is why I got the hardware key. There must be a workaround?
@beefnuts2941
@beefnuts2941 Год назад
@@shegocrazy Yeah for some reason paypal won't let you add two keys, I just added mine today no more option to add a device after I added the first key. You have to use code generator or sms as backup.

Hi, this is indeed helpful. I have a few questions: a) So, if I'd like to use my Yubikey with my paypal account, you're saying there is no way around their App, is this right? b) It appears you did everything from a desktop. Is it possible to not involve a mobile device with this App? c) Lastly, do you know how many Yubikeys I can associate with a Paypal account? I like having multiples. Thanks for your help

What's up Pedro. Thanks for dropping by. Here are the answers to your questions. a. Yes, you can only use authenticator app or SMS authentication when on their mobile app. b. Initially you need to have least an autheticator app or SMS setup first before you can add security key or Yubikey, but after that, you can login without a need of your mobile device if you are on your desktop. c. You can only use one Yubikey for one account. I hope that helps.

Thanks for your timely response! This is indeed helpful. So, if one (like myself) is seeking to avoid installing an App on their mobile device, then there would be no P/C browser work around, right? OK, now I'm just venting a bit, however wouldn't you think it would be a better service to Paypal customers to allow them to have multiple back-up keys registered, and not require the use of their APP, and only one key? Thanks again for your helpful details.@@TheFreelanceChannel

Hi, when I click use a security key, it goes to next screen but then the only option is use an authenticator app...
@TheFreelanceChannel
@TheFreelanceChannel 11 месяцев назад
You need to setup two options for verification if you will use a security. You can't use security key is the only way to verify that's why you're prompted to setup authenticator app. Once you're done with authenticator app, try again and you should be able to setup security this time.

Recently my friends paypal account was hacked, and he had the 2 step enabled, where he would use the TXT option to login. The hackers managed to circumvent this somehow. So I bought myself the Yubikey 5 NFC. Ive just received it so I have no set it up. My question is, after setting it up with Paypal, is it then possible to remove the TXT as a backup? Because I would imagine having the key is basically useless if a hacker is able to log in using the TXT option, as what happened to my friend.

Great point, Did you ever get answer for this?
@Valitzu777
@Valitzu777 Месяц назад
@@starterplanet yes, I removed the text option, and replaced it with an "authenticator 2fa" option. So using the key, and 2fa as the only options for getting through. I feel secure enough..
