Me too , and that my friend is why I keep doing it with different engines and different vehicles. I'm currently working on opposite ends of the spectrum, a monster truck with 60" tires and a MG midget. Thanks for watching and commenting.
he didn't invent anything lol he put a different motor in a truck ......not sure if you know this but people have been doing this for about i donno 125 + years now
I do the same thing as well I build airboats and aircraft engines for them and I've done a lot of things throughout the years that nobody else has done so I know what you mean I'm actually doing something now that's never been done they say it won't work but I know it will LOL
I'm tickled to see more and more people doing this with the small vehicles the gas mileage safe in you know the utility and it's just a great idea keep up the good work keep us posted on what you're doing and all the success in the world to you thanks thanks a lot
I have a couple these engine laying around and a Baja bug that needs an engine buried in the garage. Might just have to follow you instructions and get it going again.. Thanks for sharing
You just made my day. I havent felt this goddy to build something like this since i was a teenager. Well done! If you dont mind, i would like to take your design and refine it for my personal project.
Well Chris, I think I like the longer video. That thing is going to be awesome when you finish with her. Cant wait to see her with the wheelbarrow cover. Thanks for sharing.
I like your style. I never was one for making the motor faster. But dealing with the gearing system. Rear ends transmission. Never messed with the sprocket on a V8. Great job good information. So good I had to share it on my Facebook page. Some of my friends will get a kick out of it
I had a nabor give me a maxim 750 motercycle and it's shaft drive so I'm going to hook it up to a golf cart rear end and I need some 4 bolt to 5 lug car wheel adapters for my 10x15 inch sloted mags have made a streat axil look like a model a it will be a miniature t bucket should run perty good thanks for sharing this with us gives me a lot of ideas like to see it running with your new engine
There was a 1978 El Camino v8 that was converted to run on hydrogen (water through carb) back in 2006. Owner drove around for several thousand miles at low power, before locking in storage garage. Shop in Georgia used obsolete dual 1.5MH coils relay per cylinder, and diodes, and passed 6-7 amps current through spark plugs same time as spark, using Inverter with half wave diode. Champion plugs cross reference with same REACH can be taken apart at top to exchange 6kohm resistor for copper wire substitute- like a racing plug. Timing was retarded to minus 34 degrees. Will start and run Idle speed but for acceleration power, the carb was uncovered to increase size of main jet redrilled about 30% bigger for more water. The EGR assisted the efficiency, but later on they found out that just some of the exhaust water would also smooth out engine running if reused! The exhaust has compressed in Nitrogen from air that boosted efficiency. (Air is 78% Nitrogen) Web site shut down, but couple videos 1+2 are still there on him and son running lawnmower engine on water. S1R9A9M9 -Nathren) I studied the whole thing. He now only runs V8 on engine stand for 24hr hooked to electrical power generater, with water line .
Please let me say that back when I was younger I thought about doing exactly what you have done from what I see you have done a very good job at making it work thanks for real I guess I'm just a lazy human because I neaver did get around to doing it okay thanks Charles Williams later on jelly beans for real now you hear
I'm about to build one of these trucks myself. I really appreciate seeing how you did it. I was thinking the same for the transmission shaft that a clutch disc welded to a 1 inch coupler would be best to keep from ruining the transmission.
Reminds me of the Depression when people took old Model A's and turned them into doodlebugs when tractors were prohibitively expensive. I love the idea of repowering an old rig with a Hobo Freight powerplant. I saw one guy put a Predator 212 and put it in a Baja bug, but then lopped off the recoil start and put on an old-timey rope start. Poor man's antitheft!
Dad grew up during the depression. He said that one of my uncles made a tractor by putting a car transmission behind another car transmission to reduce the speed and get more torque. As for the rope start, that's not antitheft. That's just BYOR (Bring Your Own Rope) theft. 😂😂
Excellent video, we may have the same DNA, I build cool/weird stuff also. Thinking about this type of setup on a 39 Plymouth truck. Subbed and thanks for sharing.
Hey Chris. Great inspirational video. You have clearly demonstrated with a little creativity and passion, a farm truck CAN be affordable. Keep up the great work, I look forward to seeing your next video. One day I will definitely build one and you are my teacher. Thanks again.
Thanks for posting Chris 👍 I just got one of those Max Torque Predator 224 engines and I really like it! I installed it in my mini bike and it’s definitely has really great low end torque 🙂
Hello Friend. Although I have been following you for many months, this is my first comment. I am writing to thank you for explaining this video. It is really very clear, nothing is missing or superfluous. And I really like the way you've attached the shaft to the gearbox using that part you made. I am preparing a similar job for a tractor, and another for a 4x4 truck. I live in Argentina, I write to you in Spanish, and Mr. Google takes care of the translation. If you find any inconsistency in the text, you know where the cause is..... lol Ok, that's all and I'm waiting for the next videos.
That is really cool, thank you for watching the videos and I hope they help you out in your projects. If you have any project pictures you would like to share Keyfarm has an email address, ckeyfarm@gmail.com I'm going to start telling my friends that Keyfarm is big in Argentina hahaha. Have a great day and thanks for commenting.
Bro, you are THEE MAN!!! I love it that is so badass I can't wait to see how that Duramax works 👍🏻 Just curious, do you ever consider the predator 420 instead of the Duramax?
Hey if you want to go faster you may have to use the old j-bar have your speed sprockets on your Trans side but power sprockets on your engine side its an idea I used this in my jet fueled go-kart worked amazing
I have a suggestion for connecting the clutch eye to the motor shaft. If you have two shafts that aren't perfectly aligned you can connect them together with a Lovejoy flex connector. I've see these used in factories a lot. Otherwise, it becomes critical to make sure the shafts ARE perfectly aligned. While working in a cannery in 2015, I followed up behind a group of guys who had set up some machines that each had a 1 inch steel shaft connecting a primary gearbox to a secondary gearbox. Since the 2 gearboxes didn't always align perfectly, the first one needed to be shimmed up. Those guys hadn't taken the time to do that, so one day, I arrived to find that the output of the secondary gearbox wasn't turning on one machine. Upon removal of the shaft guard, I found the shaft broken. After I replaced it, the primary gearbox and motor were floating with a gap between them and the rest of the machine. Those guys had just pulled them down with the mounting bolts and not bothered to shim them up with washers. You did well aligning yours, obviously with just shims on the height. But if you don't mind a little extra expense, a Lovejoy connector can make alignment a little easier both horizontally and vertically.
Just come across your channel That's quite the setup you have That's probably something I would do cause I'm making what kind of Stuff So keep the good work going and I'll be watching have a good day my friend stay safe
Cool, I appreciate it. Have you seen the newest video of the small engine Monster Truck? It's pretty cool, I think you'll like it. Thanks for commenting.
I think the "hood" off a riding mower would look way better. Want it liquid cooled? Take the cover off the cylinder, wrap 1/4" nickel-copper tubing around it, in between the air fins. Run those to a transmission cooler, mounted to the front, behind the grill. An inline 12v fuel pump is enough, run off the magneto (if the engine has one). A V-twin motorcycle engine would work here, too. Get the shaft drive transmission, cooler package. Do you run a 12v vacuum pump for the brakes? This is a great idea, what you have here. My added suggestions are merely ramblings. Take care.
I would disagree. This engine will run over 2 1/2 hours on a gallon of gas at half load, once up to 22 mph it's probably less than half load to maintain speed . 22 mph x 2 1/2 hours = 55 mpg but that's just an educated guess.
Yes sir, I drive an 18 wheeler quite a bit and most of the time we only use the clutch to start and stop, all other shifting is a timing thing just like you mentioned 👍.
hello again Chris, just seen your about page and while your in north Alabama we live in NW Alabama. maybe one day we can meet up and exchange ideas lol keep the vids coming
What if you don't exactly want to utility vehicle the vehicle you want to cheat transportation for the road and you already got a small car that has a blown head gasket it's going to cause the 1200 for the engine 1200 for the labor $500 extra for extra parts to replace the one that got cracked on on your way home with a head gasket blown another guy says I need new engine and it's Oldsmobile intrigue little four-cylinder car what I have the same powers that four-cylinder engine once had if I put engine for a side by side in there instead and could I drive this on the road and still have it legal for the road for crying out loud I believe it's 4 cylinder but it might be a 6 cylinder at any case it's not got enough power with a regular size engine that I am used to a V.8 pickup truck I like a pickup truck and this is a go-kart style car and it's going to feel like a go-kart so might as well have a go-kart engine right laugh out loud 😂🤣😂??? for the poor boy to drive 🤣🤣🤣 ??? Oldsmobile intrigue 2000 oh another thing to this thing handle heels mountains up in the Ozarks of Arkansas will it go kart engine without impeding traffic I just hate npg traffic like a farm tractor 🚜??? especially when you're driving a car for crying out loud you shouldn't have to be impeding traffic where's the power hope it's there now go kart engine laugh out loud 😂🤣😂??? And another thing would you have a great power steering with a go-kart engine for crying out loud I would lose your power steering and forgot our experience the anti steering capabilities of this car when the motor dies after throwing my head gaskets great and steering was not there because the angel is off and I had to stop going down from 45 to 0 within a curvy road fighting the steering and brakes finally had to run up into a driveway with a fight in basement to stop for crying out loud???
You could really drill a hole on the cylinder head on the intake valve and pull vacuum for your brake booster and have power brakes or you could remove the brake booster and have a lot better hydraulic fluid brakes with no power booster but that just depends how good you want your brakes to really work on your truck or how much brake Powers you really need for your truck
Or better yet you could drill a small hole on the carburetor intake and put a copper fitting and hook up a rubber hose to power brake booster and you would have power brakes or just remove the power brake booster and have much better brakes
I live near downtown San Francisco where the trolleys run. Each trolley has a clamp which grabs the cable. But there aren’t that many trolleys, so the cable is only used one percent of the time. They should make cars which can grab the cable. For an annual license fee of two hundred dollars, you can use the cable as much as you want.
I would think to get more power you need to put a bigger sprocket on the motor and a little rocket on the shaft that piece of transmission laugh out loud you might get a little bit more speed out of it they got racing bikes with big giant sprockets on the pedal of the bike and a little tiny sprocket on the back and they go faster and normal bike so if that works that way should that work on this as well laugh out loud oh by the way that big sprocket is two times bigger than the sprocket that was on it in the first place within centimeters of hitting the ground
Pretty cool video. I wonder if you could put that on the road don’t really matter about the motor as long as it goes fast enough but question if it was automatic, I guess you just make a coupler to go to the torque converter
It's not street legal so, I haven't run it for long periods of time to tell for sure, but from what I know about these engines and how much fuel they consume, my best guess would be 50-60 mpg on Flatish ground, but that's just an educated guess.
I finally found this video, like I said I did the same thing to my Volkswagen dune buggy but I used the Skidoo clutch with the belt that runs the chain drive down to the transmission and hooked it up the same way you did on the transmission using the centre of the clutch that I bolted together. Great job thank you for showing how it all works the only thing I would like to have seen is A little more of how the Chain adjuster with the sprocket that you built how it works but I imagine it just slides into place against the chain to keep tension on it.
That is just stupid. You can buy a running and driving truck for $500-$1,500. Don’t waste your time people. The video is interesting to watch but that’s about it.
@@ChrisfromKeyfarm what would be real interesting is where is he finding trucks for under $1500.00 that a person could feel comfortable driving around with the wife and kids inside , and that is going to last more than three days before giving up the ghost ?
itd be awesome if you could somehow hook up 2 transmissions so itd be kind of like a 10 speed in a big rig. low gears for pulling and doing work. and taller gears for going like 25 mph
My Pooper Trooper is awesome. I take my friends up in the mountains and crawl up the wheeler trails and over rocks and things. My friends get amazed at what the Pooper Trooper can Climb. The only thing I have to do to mine is weld in the alternator mount and try and get some electric fuel pump and pressure regulator. Then I can run the 11 gallon tank and start the thing from the inside.
@@ChrisfromKeyfarm Thanks for the tip I think I seen Mike Festiva use an alternator for an application. I am really liking your project. Keep having fun.
That engine is fabricated into the drivetrain and geared in such a way that it is not working nearly as hard as your thinking, once up to speed it's not working hard at all.
Live on a small island and found a guy that put one in an old s-10. Thing has been awesome for restocking his cabin. Been looking to do this for a while.
Nice! Built right. Chris thanks for the all the free Information. I have a Mini Cooper.I'm going to Follow your directions, see what happens.Think it's gonna be fun.
Not trying to knock this but I picked up a 06 f150 long bed for 1000 bucks had 200k on it did break job and I can use it on the farm drive it down the road and it has AC just my 2 cents. Also we use old jeeps like YJ or TJ they work well around the farm doors and top off can get them in tight spaces and you can get them cheaper than a side by side and again slap a tag on them and do the speed limit if you need to run ti town for supplies. Like I said not knocking it I just think you could find a used truck with a factory motor and do the same thing for around the same amount of money
I appreciate the comment, but those sweet deals you are finding are not the norm, and as far as jeeps, there isn't a decent running/ driving jeep within 100 miles of here for less than $4000.00, and a 4000.00 jeep is going to have plenty of issues even if it will go down the road.
L😁L! You’re so silly! 😁😂 That was actually a great idea! 😀 You can build your own vehicles from scratch. 💪🏽 I know you can. I believe in you! Nice video with full details and humor in the mix. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Like button hit!
Got a 94 s10 with a bad 4.3 4x4 I've been thinking about doing this 2 then yesterday a buddy gave me a 88 tj with around 6 inch welded lift with a bad v6 also has a 4 speed I'm thinking I like it more for the build
Have you considered a air cooled snow machine engine and use the belt drive instead of sprockets ?? . what you think ? i was thinking of doing that to a old willy's jeep . wish i could have seen your drive system more after it was installed ? good video.
Not many snow machines down here in Alabama to get parts off of, I have considered belt drive, there are several other videos that perhaps you can see the drive system. Thanks for watching.
I like that video I have a Willis Jeep I would like to do that do you need a clutch on it I don't understand The motors running I have a standard will that work Is Cajun land Church Point Louisiana
“WireFred Welder” outtake was inspiring. Humbly timing with a late night tongue-tie. My Dad acquired our small town’s 1939 International fire truck. Engine used to turn over, but I might suggest a Predator swap-in. We only want to drive it in parades and such. This has given me new hope!
I'm not sure why but this is the third time I've had to subscribe to your channel. Just thought I'd mention that especially as you're right below the threshold for monetization.
So you have a 48 tooth lower sprocket. What is you clutch tooth count. Also is this a 5 speed with overdrive? What is the rear axle ratio and tire size? Thanks.
235/75-15 tires, so if I remember correctly they are about 29" tall. I do not know the rear differential ratio??? I'm running a 10 tooth clutch clutch to a typical 5 speed transmission. Thanks for watching.
