Hiro Imafuji Thank you :) Just a hint: Guide on how to pack/fold Kendogi and Hakama would be also very very useful. Because I found out recently that it's not that easy as I thought it would be. And it would be really nice to know that there is a video guide you can always watch if you forgot about something.

Hello, I just started practicing kendo and iaido in a full Japanese dojo... no one speaking english so all I can get are very rough instruction and get hit on the head :) Also no one can explain me if I can use same uniform for kendo and iaido or how I can combine the 2, I'm just getting started so I would love to not cash out so much in the starting. Thank you!
@KendoGuide
@KendoGuide 7 лет назад
If you are in Japan, you should get Iaido uniform. Go to a budo shop or kendogu shop. They usually have iaido uniform. Where do you live?
@fabriciogiampietro7029
@fabriciogiampietro7029 7 лет назад
Surprisingly enough I live in Australia :) But the only dojo here on the Gold Coast is 90% Japanese, I've been recommended by an Australian to get the kendo uniform first(kenioti + hakama), and maybe add the obi to practice both. Does it sound reasonable?
@fabriciogiampietro7029
@fabriciogiampietro7029 7 лет назад
I also understand that the economical commitment is part of the deal, I won't go very far if I'm not ready to do sacrifices, on economical side too
@KendoGuide
@KendoGuide 7 лет назад
You definitely need an obi for iaido. And yes, if you do kendo, as long as your teacher allows you, you can practice iaido with kendo keikogi and hakama.
@KendoGuide
@KendoGuide 7 лет назад
Yes. It is a commitment. But then why would you start martial arts without commitment, right? Once you decide to join, you should commit. Usually I will allow beginners one or 1.5 months to think about it. And then once they decide, I will tell them to get necessary equipment because it is not cheap.

I have such a hard time getting my back without wrinkes. Its always wrinkled - Actually, the whole GI looks wrinkled. Is mine too big ? It seems like I cant get it smooth ...
@KendoGuide
@KendoGuide 9 лет назад
0BlaiddDrwg0 Maybe it is too big. You might have to pull the back to the sides as well as downwards. Try that and let me know how it goes.

Thank you so much for this video mr. Imafuji. Can you tell me where you attach the back plate? Is it tugged into the bow you tied or into the himo from when you first began to tie the front of the hakama ? Kind regards.

+Stanley SMITH Thank you for your comment but can anyone translate that into English? Is it something like "Is this method for kendo and iaido?" ?
@julienloze7292
@julienloze7292 9 лет назад
+Hiro Imafuji (Kendo For Life) Hell Imafuji sensei ! He says thanks for this video and asks if this method is also correct for practicing Aikido.
@KendoGuide
@KendoGuide 9 лет назад
+Julien Loze Thank you for your translation! Iaido has its own manner even though we share a lot in common. Especially in iaido, you put an obi (belt) on so you have to learn how to put the obi on. So if you want to learn Iaido, you should learn from an Iaido sensei.
