Jeet Kune Do Pendulum Step for quick switching footwork during attack and defense of the legs and in conjunction with kicking. The intercepting foot! #WingChun #JeetKuneDo #MartialArts #JKD
This gentlemans use of martial expression is phenomenal. He is very fluid and transitions his fulcrums quite well. The snap is so persistent and tight. Very awesome.
I'm learning muay thai low kicks at my local gym, and we generally aim for the inner/outer thigh. I really like your take on these kicks, and those high kicks of yours are so fast!
My sensei was family. And very strict. I cleaned the dojo for two years before I could learn, as is tradition. In 12 years, I only made 4 progressions, but damn. I had to do a year in jail, and despite multiple attempted gang assaults, I didn't get hit even one time in that year. Jeet Kune Do is superior to all other martial arts, and is THE best street fighting style as well. Thanks man, its nice to put the old gi on and refresh. I really feed off your intensity. 🙏
Ninja Nate Hi there, I've been a 2nd gen JKD teacher showing the principles for over 30 years now and one of my pet hates is to see so called JKD concepts being touted around as something that Sijo Lee taught. It's rare in my opinion to see especially new instructors teaching JKD correctly. You seem from what I can see to be on a good path. Stay uninfluenced by the crowd and keep researching truth. All the best, Sifu Jimi Heys.
LMA UK Ah I'm glad you find my teaching suitable. I had good teachers. Richard Bustillo was one of them and who I am certified under. Thank you for your encouraging words Sifu Heys! I will do my best to present JKD accurately and as for the concepts thing I know some take it a little far but I believe fighting continues to change and JKD now is different from JKD in Sijo Lee's day and he knew it would continue to evolve and wanted it to keep evolving. You may see me teach concepts but I will try to make it clear it wasn't something he taught but I have either developed or seen effective. Best wishes, Sifu Nathan Young Aloha
Thanks for doing these videos, I was learning JKD in classes but then had a knee injury and didn't go back, but want to pick up where I left off. So these are great thanks
Thank you and yeah I guess I have. You gotta keep on flowing! Progress needs to happen to get better also now days people on RU-vid have such fancy and professional videos. I gotta keep up. Before RU-vid was very informal when I started.
Nate, your Foot Displacement (Burst Step) looks alright. They only thing that I see, is When Applying ANY JEET KUNE DO Kicks , you must return back into On-Guard Position and do Not bring Lead Foot straight down.
this guy is incredible! i train kickboxing so we have some of the same kicks like roundhouse, spinning back kick and so on.. But the speed on this guys is amazing! And he makes it look so easy and it probably is for him too but you have to train for many many years to do the stuff he does at the same speed. He also looks allot like Bruce Lee :)
Great video. That step kick thing was awesome.By the way i am also a Bruce Lee fan and my favourite movie is way of the dragon.Bruce directed it and shows most of his skills in it but when i saw that step you did i was thinking fist of fury.
Sidiney José de Oliveira Form first, then when you have to form down perfectly, slowly and gradually pick up the speed while practicing. Keep picking up the speed until you mess up the form. The level below your mess up where you want to work on. Then pick up the speed again when you have that down.
The way I trained this was to essentially have the rear foot take the place of the front when the kick makes contact with the target or as close as possible... The pendulum as you demoed @0:42 is not exactly correct because both feet never occupy the same location at the same time (not even close)... Nor does the rear knock the front out via contact, the pendulum replaces one foot for another but both move at the same time, with the pendulum pivot at the top (your head) like a real pendulum (clock) so they could never touch, like the "balls". Same for the reverse, after the kick the landing can be done so that your rear goes back to it's original location as does the front.... The pendulum kick can take up a lot of space in one very sudden and explosive movement and shock the attacker with an intercepting stop hit...
Ninja Nate is pretty good his wing Chung is nice because that used to be Bruce Lee's whole entire technique with the pendulum legs like a pendulum going back-and-forth you move your legs a Certain Way, Suponic can't see where you're coming from and boom the kitchen with kicks I like, but you see this as a dance because you can never really see your opponents moves actually coming gifts have to anticipate them I like how they doing the stuff for practice.
hi im from the philippines..i practice karate before, because thats the only available around. I want to learn jkd. Can i study it with just watching videos?
Dear ninja Nate big fan of your videos was wondering if you could do something on different footworks to set up a lead leg hook kick or a turning side kick. Would like to know more ways I could implement them in sparring using a south paw stance. Keep up the great work.
Nice video Nate, keep it up man! Hopefully one day we'll see alot more UFC fighters trained in the concept of JKD cause of you! :) Btw, whats your ethnicity man? :P
Have you watched bruce lees enter the dragon because on the first part of the movie it shows bruce lee fighting someone and at the end of the fight bruce puts the guy he is fighting in a sort of head lock or something I really can't tell I'm wondering if you could figure out what it is and post a tutorial on it I really wanna learn it oh yeah thanks for the videos and keep up the good work man your a really good martial artist 👍
I think you mean the crucifix. He traps both his arms, one with his legs and the other he grabs and armbars on Sammo Hung who tries to roll out of it but can't and ends up getting trapped and taps out in the opening fight of Enter the Dragon. They were called Puma Faas 250. One of my favorite parkour shoes that were in between minimalist shoes and think cushioned shoes. Good balance of sensitivity and foot protections. On top of that very light and breathable.
any advice for a weaker person? I tried jujitsu but I couldn't do any of the moves. I'm currently teaching myself cat style. my friend Gabe said that "You'll learn as you get older" to me. He's somehow immune to pressure point attacks and taught me four moves, a punch, tiger claw, knife-hand, and knuckle blow. I know you probably won't reply but I'd like to talk to you sometimes. From Japan, Akira.
no disrespect or anything...buut to me the defensive use of this technique is questionable. cause if the opponent does more than one attack quick (fake the first lowkick, come in with a combination)..you literally are ompletely off your center/balance AND you only stand on one leg(so it takes 1 more move to actually take a diferent stand/move out of the line of attack). plus if sb. does an oblique kick to that leg...ouch :/
Damn yo I wanna be you fr fr👌 honestly wish I could meet you 😂👍 I've been looking to become faster and I thought taekwondo would do but it doesn't make me as fast so :/
There is a problem with this kick, though it's fast ,I'm not satisfied, during a real fight this won't work I'm sure, also if we focus in this one we leave upper body wide open ,
is it possible to learn jkd as a woman? I mean.. I really wanna study this martial art but Im afraid Id be laughed at that i dont have the baxic strenght and stamina as a man does..
RinoaHearlty what u may not know is jkd style was broken off of wing chin with is a women's name and a women taught ip man wing chun and he taught Bruce Lee so yes a women can learn because a women was the originator of wing chun
Thid guys never been in a fight if hr thinks thid footwork is in any way whatsoever useable and effective.. I feel bad for thrse guys dedicated, talented snd passionate but out of touch a little less conflict avoidance and pacifism and a lot more real HtH combst experience would do them so much good they could adapt and salvage a lot of their concepts and even many techniques.. not this vid per se but JKD in general
