This is fantastic. I feel embarrassed to admit it, but I've struggled with this.

In this day and age you would think GPS manufacturers would accept input of all three including the Google Maps/Earth formats.

Google earth settings let’s you change Latitude/ Longitude formatting to Degrees, decimal minuets. Works great. I use it every day

I'm not familiar with Simrad, but the Garmin GPS's allow you to chang the format to accept any of those plus several other formats. I'm a decimal degrees guy myself.

So I was trying to find a downed drone and it sent its location in decimals. I was looking for a converter like this but my cellular data was not working… so if you don’t have access to this site it’s a fairly easy process to convert it with a calculator on your phone. Take the whole number off then multiply the decimal by 60 if you need seconds repeat the process.. to go the other way just divide

Luckily most GPS have settings you can change. +(plus) is NE I think - (minus) is WS. Works for me but not 100% on +/- part.

I make videos and often I need to give my viewers a GPS coordinates. Would it be best to use DMM? I use a SPOT locator or GPS to locate these positions.

I encountered a problem with this the other day. I was google earthing spots on the Great Barrier reef off my home town of Innisfail, Queensland, Australia. I zoomed in on a spot , dropped the pin and took down coordinates. They were in degrees, minutes ,seconds. The seconds are only to the second decimal place. I then imputed them on my Lowrance elite 7 ti which uses the same format except the seconds are to the third decimal place. When I compared the google earth image to my Lowrance, they were in a different place. One right next to the reef ( Lowrance ) The other Google earth probably a good 2 kms difference. How do you explain that ?

Do you have any advice for how to convert geospatial coordinates from the old "Baltimore County Metropolitan District" grid system into one of the modern coordinate systems? My neighborhood plat is from 1984 and uses that old BCMD grid. Thank you!
