In this video I will show you how to completely and easily remove the x-reas system from your 5th Gen 4Runner Limited.
This is the quick and dirty method for removing the x-reas to replace with an aftermarket system. If you want to reuse the system or replace components (very rare) then follow the more lengthly method of disconnecting the lines at all the check valves in order to conserve fluid.
If you’d like to learn how to install a lift and new upper control arms in your 5th Gen 4Runner Limited, check out part 2 of this series “A Detailed Guide To Installing a (OME) Lift and Aftermarket UCA’s On Your 5th Gen 4Runner”.

Couldn't ask for a better walkthrough xreas delete video. Good job and thanks for extra detailed info and not rushing the video. 🤝

The last bit of info that it was solely mechanical was a huge help! Thank you for the great video!!

I saw a car care nut video where he talks about 4runner suspensions and touches on xreas. He explains-like you did-that it’s fully mechanical/hydraulic not electrical, he also says that Toyota designed it so that the system cannot be maintained and fluid cannot be added/exchanged. You have to disconnect at check valves otherwise you will lose fluid that cannot be added… 😂 it’s like Toyota turned German or something with engineering on this one…

thanks for the video. after doing a lot of reading, I'm feeling very blessed that the xreas system on our 4runner lasted almost 150k before it started to leak.

Very thorough video that actually shows what you are doing. Good job, and thank you!

Thanks for making a great video. I haven't found a mechanic near me that will do the XREAS delete but I will definitely share this video with the one who agrees.

Great video! Im about to buy a 2015 4runner limited and was afraid of the suspension. But that was easy!

Love the attention to detail, I'm the same way. I'll be cutting mine out save myself the trouble since I'm tossing it in the trash anyways in this case. Thanks for the knowledge before I tackle the job.

Great video, thanks. I'm doing the same thing this weekend and installing an Icon suspension. I don't think the system is reusable. I had one leaky strut (front driver side) and Toyota told me the entire system had to be replaced ($5300).

Great job. Being hold fart think I'll just leave hardware on and replace shocks. Of course I'll plug shock lines to not spew fluid everywhere down the road. Most appreciated! Thanks

Awesome video, liked and subbed. I have a 2015 Limited and love it. A bit disappointed to find out the X-REAS system fails early. But when it does I will likely remove it per your video. If I don’t want to put on a lift kit, can I just replace the X-REAS shocks with something else? What will my ride be like?

the tire under the frame is a great idea. i had a vehicle fall on me once and partially pin me. to be honest it was a Suzuki samurai 😂 but my T4R would have turned out different im sure.

Looking to do this on my Limited, just wondering why be so careful when it is being deleted and just cut the lines to make it simpler to delete everything?

Thanks so much for his video!! I got a 2018 toyota 4 runner liimited with 90k miles and the passenger side front shock has gone to shit. toyota wants over 5k to do everything. Then if i wanted to remove the xreas system and put traditional shocks, they still want over 5k.

Cool and useful video 👍👍👍. Tell me, if you turn off the car, it will become softer or remain the same stiff, after the accident they removed the suspension, and it seems to me that it has become hard ?! Or will I have to change to regular shock absorbers.
