*I just love to watch these videos & leave behind my stressful city life. Really loved the education on how to properly feed and care for your hens. Feeding oats was a surprise to me but makes perfect sense, since it doesn't produce the internal heat of corn. Enjoyed the tip on making them feel safe & secure too. Thanks, Becky*
Quarantine* sorry, don’t mean too be rude! I just wanna mention we recently got 10 chicks and my older sister named one Ronny! (Short for coRONa) she didn’t wanna directly name it corona lol
Dear Becky, started watching your videos two months ago on chickens . Now I'm binge watching trying to catch up on the rest of them.... you are great, I love watching as you make it all so achievable. Thank you. Also your advice on chickens was right, they DO need peace and calm. I showed it to my husband, he hummed and hawed, said okay, didn't realise chickens were so sensitive, and I had them back laying in a week. He said they were tough and did not get frightened, I disagreed. Thank you for the advice. He's even going to build them an extra sun/rain shelter now! I also thought the laundry soap substitute for washing excellent, smells better anyway. I used sunlight soap. Keep up your excellent work, you have a fan in NZ
Great video Becky! We've had chickens for about 1.5 years now - this last summer (we are heading into winter now in New Zealand) our son bought a bunch of fertilised eggs and put them under a couple of broody hens. We ended up with 4 baby chickens, 2 of which were lost to cats, but it was neat to see the surrogate mums raise them. And they've shown no sign of going broody since which is great because they were always broody before that.
I just stumbled on your video and WOW. You're amazing, I just can't believe you built your own cabin. If this isn't inspiration for anyone, I don't know what is. Congrats. Also, I just subscribed haha.
becky, i would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me through this entire process. 18 1/2 weeks ago during winter, i bought 4 chicks. I was ecstatic!! Finally, today i received my first perfect brown egg from one of my cinnamon queens, Adley. It is such an amazing experience and i was so happy i didn’t know what to do. I cried, i screamed, and then i just sat on the ground for 30 minutes just staring at the egg. It was amazing. Thank you for helping me throughout this process with your videos! Connor
This was super informative for me! I didn't know about the cracked corn not having nutrients or that each hen didn't need their own nesting boxes! Thank you!
This is all I want this is why I'm moving to North Carolina it's such a huge step just because you said the things you said in the beginning it touched my heart hard so I'm subscribing love u am be well
You are awesome. This is the first video I have watched about raising chickens. The first 30 seconds of your video make me feel so happy. You are so charming. I love the whole video, and I appreciate your putting this out there 😊
Thank you so much! I have been wanting some chickens for forever, my mom watched this video and now she said I can have some! I'm so excited! All my friends chickens are so funny to watch
I just saw your video, I love it I raised chickens all my life. You have great information you really love your chickens. I already learned not to use oyster shells ect
I too love your videos and will be doing the same thing homesteading. I love those chicken houses too. Thank you for your videos and have learned so much from them...
Great video, Becky! I love your chicken vids. Thanks for sharing! I couldnt help but notice how much weight you've lost. Way to go!!! You're lookin good!
I have 3 hens and I watched one of your other videos describing this way of feeding them a while back and they have been the best layers ever. They're my babies when they're running around the yard and it's time to go in their home for the night I go out and call "fattys" and they come running at me and follow me to their house.
I remember growing up in the country and having chickens and goats. When I was a kid, I really didn't like it, but now that I am older, I would love to get about 5 acres and start growing my own food.
I’m going to buy a home with a 3 lot parcel. All fenced. I didn’t even think of it but my Gown daughter told me “You can have chickens.” I eat egg sandwiches every day. LoL
Love it! Thanks for the videos! Im learning and loving it! Looking forward to a homestead soon! Thanks also for making me laugh! That bratty Neil! hehe
