Baking soda is good to add after a rain to keep the water smelling fresh plus it will keep the ph and alkalinity balanced. 😀👍

What wisdom? That Alkalinity+ is Sodium Bicarbonate. Literally Baking Soda. All he did was add some baking soda with more expensive different branded baking soda.

@@somerandomguy8402 Judging from your need to comment so negatively to no one's benefit, I'd guess you're too acidic and need to raise your own PH. You quibble about another man's use of "wisdom" to praise a presenter, and why? Van shared his wisdom about the process and how and when to do the steps to avoid problems, plus a generous philosophic note here and there to encourage the novice. Wisdom is simply experience correctly applied.

First, a huge thank you for taking the time to create these videos. I very much appreciate the time and effort you and other content creators put into informative videos. I do have a question though, according to Aquabrite’s website, their Alkalinity Plus is Sodium Bicarbonate, which is the same as baking soda. Wouldn’t that make Alkalinity Plus and baking soda interchangeable? Thanks again.

Thank You for watching.... And for your feedback.. Alkalinity up that is composed of sodium carbonate will not affect your PH. But if it is Sodium Bicarbonate it will affect your PH and Alkalinity.. I hope this helps ... Ans as always thank you for watching

@@VansWorld This is incorrect. Sodium carbonate = Soda Ash. This is what you use to increase pH. Sodium bicarbonate = sodium hydrogen carbonate. This is what you use to increase alkalinity. Alkalinity increasers are sodium bicarbonate including Alkalinity Up and others like it.

Lol. Man they aggravate me so bad.. lol. I turned off my a/c and the pool slide to film and Just as soon as I hit record they start mowing the grass. Haha.

If this is sodium bicarbonate how is it not also increasing my Ph??? Because that is exactly what I use to increase my Ph when it decreases. I purchase the 12 lb bag of arm and hammer from Wally World - have been doing this for years for Ph. My Ph reading is 7.4 but my TA is 50. All tests show to increase my TA using generic sodium bicarbonate - but this also increases my Ph - been successfully maintaining my own pool this way for more than 15 years and this is still a mystery to me!! TIA for any advice

thumbs up and shared to me that is like the rocket science but I dont have a pool lol and in a way, im happy I dont like you said I have friends with pools let them do it ill go visit and enjoy their pools when I do good times less work for me and cost to me is a case of beer and a few steaks for the BBQ so cheaper than owning a pool in the long run

@@VansWorld You are so funny. I went from a 16x48 above ground to a 24x52 above ground and it is a lot of work but I enjoy my pool. I just got the Lamotte ColorQ 7 2056 testing kit and so far I like it better than the kits that you have to match colors with. My eyesight isn't all that great so it is hard for me to distinguish between the colors to tell what my chemicals are at. With the Lamotte kit, you push a button after you put in your drops and it tells you where your chemicals are at. My alkalinity was at a 73 so I need to bring it up without messing with my ph (ph is 7.5). I"m going to try the Alkalinity Plus and hope it brings my alkalinity up without bringing up my ph. @@VansWorld No I haven't seen it. Is it about pools? I mainly watch pool videos because I'm the one who takes care of our pool so I have to keep up on it. It is an above-ground 24x52 pool and I'm only 4'10 in so it is a job for me. Thank you for the information and you have an awesome rest of the week also and God bless.

If Alkalinity + is baking soda it will also bring up the PH.

Alkalinity plus will only alter the alkalinity not the ph. Baking soda will alter both.

Ummm... That Alkalinity+ is just Sodium Bicarbonate. Literally Baking Soda. All you did was add baking soda and then add more expensive marked up different branded baking soda. Go get the four pound Great Value brand boxes for cheap. Same exact thing.

Actually your almost right. This will raise your alkaline but not your PH. If you use just baking soda it will affect your ph too. Then you will have more issues

Somerandomguy is exactly right. The label for that product says 100% sodium bicarbonate, which is baking soda. Look on the back of the container. Check the manufactures web site. If it’s 100% baking soda then it’s just baking soda not something special.
