So your partner, your coworker, or your kid says something that totally pisses you off.
What should you do?
First step: try to become aware of the fact that you’re experiencing the emotion of anger. Simply thinking yourself “there’s anger “represents a shift from unconsciousness to consciousness.
Step two: pause. Take a breath. Allow the anger to move its way through your system without getting hooked by habitual patterns of reaction.
Step three: see if you can react in a counter-habitual way. Instead of meeting anger with anger, see what happens when you meet anger with kindness, compassion, or maybe even love.
It might just blow your mind. And your partner’s mind too.
