I'm Nate Klemp. I'm here to offer guided meditations, tips, science-based insights, and mindfulness practices designed to help you navigate the hard stuff in life (stress, anxiety, and anger) and experience more of the good stuff (happiness, wellbeing, and presence). Each week, I'll be posting one video on mindfulness-based insights (Thursdays) and one video with a guided meditation (Sundays). You'll learn age-old techniques for training your mind and becoming more present in all of life. Why am I doing this? As a former philosophy professor, mindfulness author, and founding partner at Mindful Magazine, I LOVE teaching and sharing these ideas. There's just one problem: I no longer have a classroom to do it in. So I decided to create my own virtual classroom where we can explore these powerful practices and insights together. If you're up for exploring meditation in real life with me, be sure to subscribe and click the notification bell so that you never miss a video.
Hi Nate, just came across this video. I've had tinnitus for over 2 years now after getting COVID. I've spent over $1000 with various "treatments". CBT, MBTSR. And didn't get anywhere. Your video is so very different and explains what needs to be done for it to work. I'll be replaying your videos every day. Thanks for making them. Mark.
Hi nate my own concern is always that am scared if i don't sleep, having fear that my tinnitus will worse .this thought of the tinnitus getting worse keep me awake. Just develop Tinnitus 2 month back. An helpess just want to sleep
habituation is great and i use meditation everyday before i had tinnitus and more so now. BUT, i wish you would start this video by saying. Habituation is a great but you should not give up trying to find anything that might be causing your tinnitus. Too many people go straight to habituation and do not look holistically at themselves and all the other ailments that could be leading your body to imbalance and possibly tinnitus.
Hi Nate. I listened to your 10 minute tinnitus video and I got completely lost in the technique which I found powerful. This is in great contrast to my experience of some other YT videos for meditation. I have tinnitus and I find that most of the time I can put it out of my mind. But other times it’s intrusive. I try a treat it as my friend, bit weird I know, and not something frightening. That also works for me. Steve
My apologies if this is really out of pocket but this morning I took my first dose of Vyvanse and I became aware of a sudden increase in meta-awareness. What I became aware of was the fact that due to the medication, I now have a choice with regards to where I place my attention. I was no longer needing to manipulate myself or life in order to force myself into focusing on something. I sat with this awareness for a while and just had compassion toward myself for having lived this long without that capacity. I had an inkling that what I was experiencing was meta awareness (due my research into metacongitive therapy) and I found your video. You describe exactly what it's like to have meta awareness!
Thank you Nate😊. I having tinnitus from Nov 2023, bcoz of my Ear infection. Noise is still there , but I’m positive. Thanks for the wonderful meditation .
My tinnitus is a head roar, sounds like Niagara Falls...hard to habituate to...no problem habituating to the high pitched ringing tinnitus in my right ear..any suggestions for me?
You say opportunity/-ies approximately halfway in, but I'm not sure if these are supposed to be specific at all. You seem commendable enough, genuinely, but this to me was a deft laying down vaguely esoteric layers I could get onboard with, but not new. ..worried I'm being both arrogant/punkish and reticent, but from a packed ice (pycrete, maybe) ontolog./existentialist pov. Still not sure if this is all fully up-and-up. Cracking proj.
Happened across this just now. Chuffed this sort of thing's still possible on RU-vid. One thing I must try get out the way is (and, respectfully, whatever it was doesn't really matter cos everything in the first few mins were riddled with the same apparently/convincingly personable and sincere interest common to the both of us; to anyone either riding--experiencing--transcending the cosmos' squalls and maelstroms, or staring spitefully into it hoping defiance is worth one last roll) respect your persistence with the channel. Subbed and following. Been spending two goes/whatevers a fortnight over the past few months because sleep deprivation gives me a disassociative relative bliss--apathy after the 36 hr mark. Visuals after
All 'fingers and thumbs'-ed an accidental post there. Sozzle. Here's rest*: "...50-54, and haven't gone beyond 80-82. Things do get properly groovy tho, fy-izzlez, u scoffing suitors and skeptics out there....(assertive mumbling).... should give it a go. It's unimpeachably 'a thing' by the wee hours of the fourth day.
How about a guided meditation on habituation to anxiety? I practice your Tinnitus habitation meditation and have found it to be the most helpful resource I’ve found in all the tinnitus talk on RU-vid. Thank you.
Yes, it can be really helpful to practice meditation in these settings that bring up uncomfortable emotions. I would just recommend pacing it so that you don't go too far too fast. You want to experience shifting out of your comfort zone but not shifting so far out that you end up creating more emotional harm for yourself.
It is always interesting to me how people comment on politics, current events, entertainers, etc. Still, my observation is that few, if any, comments are ever on yoga, spirituality, or healing. If there were 711 views, no one had any comment?
Wow. This makes so much sense. I had been trying to do something similar without any guidance but this video has helped me formulate a system to manage my tinnitus. Thank you.
I am starting my journey today. Developed tinnitus 2 weeks ago in one ear, had wax removal yesterday which I hope clears it up eventually. But in the meantime I am doing everything to stop fight or flight and habituation! I will do this all the time now and hopefully I’ll be at peace with the sound
Thank you. I developed tinnitus 3 months ago. Because of your meditation guidance, I am on my way to habituation. I am no longer afraid. I am living my life. Thank you ❤
❤ thank you tinnitus is new to me 3 weeks o suffer with anxiety and insomnia to begin with and back pain this makes it all harder to sleep and having emotional distress over it. This help's me and praying. Why is there ringing i only have 5% hearing loss in one ear my tinnitus is both ears
❤ I just developed tinnitus 2 1/2 weeks ago constant loud ringing in both ears and I've been dealing with back pain for many months I suffer with anxiety and insomnia to begin with God is giving me the grace to accept this and to deal with this I love your meditation and I thought of a baby crying that's what my tentative is and it needs nurture love and support it wants to be heard and listen to instead of pushed away just like a baby needs to be love nurtured and held
Thank you for this! Loved the visualisation in the beginning and just 'being with the sound'. I've been having headaches and this tinnitus ring for a week now and already feel calmer just paying some dedicated time and awereness to it. (I'm 14 weeks pregnant so could be one of the lovely symptoms) . Will definately do this more often.
