What is your opinion on spark plug non fouler adapters. Also the issue with gear oil fill plug not loosening, I had to get a set of Damage bolt screw removal socket's.

@VirberelloScooterTips 3 года назад
Hello John spark plug non fouler adapters on small motor like a gy6 are not my favorite because the plug will seat a little higher in the chamber sometime few mm in a small engine makes a big change in performance but if you have a problem with the spark plug treading solutions are 2 you retread the hole to a larger plug or you buy a new gy6 head that they cost around 30 to 45 dollars amzn.to/3rOm6rP and you have a new head but if you do that you have to check if your gy6 motor is a A motor or B motor

What is the right gaping. I have a Icebear Mojo Magic 150cc gy6 motor. The owners manual starts to gap between .6 up to .8 . So when it charged it due to fouling adjusted new plug to .71 the old plug from factory was set at .76.

Hello John for GY6motors 150cc Normal NGK best performance at 6.5 mm = .025 and Iridium at 8mm = 032

good tips bud but the color the sparkplug can be influence by other things like heatrange,dirty carb and airfilter,low quality oil or fuel.if u have a liquid cooled engine u need to check also the exhaust if it smoge too much like white cloud then is head gasket need to replace.blue smoge is oil,causing by rich oil pump or worn out piston rings.engines are little complicated.my engine eat irridium sparkplugs i dont like them.

I bought a bike that has been sitting for 10 years and when I got it the oil was all black as well as the spark plug all black and full of soot. What do I need to do before replacing the spark plug with a new one? Should I clean the inside where it sits or spray it with something first? I've changed the oil and gas and cleaned the carb. The bike ran very bad before and died when reaching 4:th gear after some time and when riding it for a while. So I have it taken apart now since I will be replacing the petcock since it was leaking.

If you have already changed the oil and gas, cleaned the carburetor, and are planning to replace the petcock, here's what you can do before replacing the spark plug: Clean the spark plug well: Use a wire brush or a specialized spark plug cleaner to remove the soot and carbon buildup from the spark plug. Make sure to clean the electrode and the insulator thoroughly. This will help improve the spark plug's performance. Inspect the spark plug: After cleaning, examine the spark plug for any signs of damage or wear. Check the electrode gap using a spark plug gap tool to ensure it is within the manufacturer's specifications. If the spark plug is excessively worn, damaged, or has a large gap, it's recommended to replace it with a new one. Check the ignition system: While the spark plug is removed, take the opportunity to inspect the ignition system components. Ensure that the ignition coil, spark plug wires, and any other relevant parts are in good condition. Replace any damaged or worn components if necessary. Consider using a fuel system cleaner: Since the bike has been sitting for a long time, it's possible that there could be deposits or residue in the fuel system. Using a fuel system cleaner can help remove these deposits and improve fuel flow. Follow the instructions on the cleaner product for best results. Reassemble and test: Once you have cleaned the spark plug, inspected the ignition system, and completed any other necessary maintenance, reassemble the bike and start it up. Observe how it runs and pay attention to any improvements in performance. If the bike still runs poorly or exhibits the same issues, further troubleshooting may be required. Today I just adjusted my valves so I took out my spark plug. And it looks like the second one from the top. It has a lot of carbon on it. And my moped backfires often. So that means on burnt fuel. So my moped is running rich. Should I just try to give it better airflow? It's a new scooter and I say I have about 300 miles to 500 mi on it. I don't know exactly how many miles because the damn speedometer broke at 180 miles. Which would be the right way to get it looking like that coffee color?

Hello Sam the correct way to fix the problem is if you leave at sea level change your main jet to a 115# but if you are higher level you can place a 105# main jet but every time you test the new set up make sure you place a new spark plug to have the perfect reading . Thank you for watching my video

Hello my friend I can say not perfectly not really but if the center electrode is to burn to dark that could be a sign of misfiring connected with timing

Dad , I need help . I bought a second hand scooter *Peugeot Ludix ONE 50 * Been sitting for years 3+ . I 've changed with a new fuel line , cleaned the tank , new sparkplug , new carburator . Managed to start it. Now , the scooter runs a couple of hours in idle and good , but imediately after it stops and i can't start it again. Upon checking the sparkplug its full of black Oil. The Oil system has a little pump that directs in the Carb. Ive filled the oil , cleaned the sparkplug and worked again for a couple of hours. Again the same problem . the sparkplug full of black oil. Is is the insides of the motor I need to remake the seal gasket or is it another problem im not finding? faulty CDI (oil pump ) or the pump itself ? Ludix One 50cc. Thanks Dad

@@OGrandfather It seems like you've done a good job addressing some common issues with a scooter that has been sitting for a while. The fact that the spark plug is consistently fouled with black oil indicates a potential problem with the oiling system or excessive oil getting into the combustion chamber. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue: Check Oil Mixture Ratio: Ensure that you are using the correct oil-to-fuel mixture ratio. Excessive oil in the fuel mixture can lead to fouled spark plugs. Inspect the Oil Pump: Since your scooter has an oil pump that directs oil to the carburetor, check the oil pump for proper operation. Make sure it's delivering the right amount of oil to the carburetor. If the pump is faulty or not calibrated correctly, it can cause excessive oil in the combustion chamber. Check the Oil Lines: Inspect the oil lines for any blockages or kinks. Ensure that oil is flowing smoothly from the oil tank to the carburetor. Inspect the Carburetor: Double-check the carburetor settings. A carburetor that is set too rich can cause excessive oil consumption. Adjust the air-fuel mixture screw according to the manufacturer's specifications. Compression Test: Perform a compression test on the engine. Low compression could indicate worn piston rings or other internal engine issues. Inspect the Exhaust System: A clogged or restricted exhaust system can also cause excessive oil consumption. Make sure the exhaust is free from blockages. Check the CDI (Ignition System): A faulty CDI unit can lead to improper ignition timing, which may cause issues with combustion. Check for any visible damage to the CDI unit and consider testing it if necessary. Clean the Engine: Running the engine at higher RPMs for a short period might help burn off some deposits. However, this should be done cautiously to avoid overheating. If, after performing these checks, the issue persists, it might be worth considering a more in-depth inspection of the engine, including checking the seals and gaskets. If you're not comfortable doing these checks yourself, it's advisable to consult with a professional motorcycle mechanic who can perform a thorough diagnosis and provide the necessary repairs.

@@VirberelloScooterTips a super answer and thoroughly explained , just what I needed , from all your videos i've gathered all the info except the clogged exhaust and i need to find a way to test the oil pump it might be faulty , it does the mixture itself , as well i know i can make the ratio myself and disconnect it but it wouldnt pass european inspection , needs to have all working parts. If everything fails , ill start taking the motor apart after i document myself further more, i would prefer to do it myself. Ive been learning so much about mopeds that if i dont succeed it would be a waste. Thank you for all the thoughtful info always a pleasure , ill write back with the fix as soon as i have it

Today was a long day... I've opened all the scooter apart , took the exhaust and the motor off , cleaned absolutely everything in there , i've used Fairy degreaser and Vinager (washing one ) to clean the head of the piston and everything inside and out , wiped everything absolutely clean , used a new sparkplug . It ran like it's first day , I took it for a 2 hours ride .. no black smoke , no loss of power ,actually STRONG and verry quick to accelerate .It worked . Ill try to keep on using it and update on the sparkplug color and behavior. Thank you , your videos saved me around 1k in reparations .We need people like you in this world!@@VirberelloScooterTips
