Thanks for this vod. I have an old bomber I use from time to time w/ DX components and this helped me rebuild the back end and keep it functional.

Great video. I’m looking to take apart and clean an RD but was afraid I’d forget how to put it all back together. Thanks for the instruction.

Now I feel confident to try this with an old Mountain LX one. It ist not straight, but also the cage does not seem to be bent. Maybe it sorts itself out when I rebuild it :)

You can bend em a little and they’ll still shift perfect plus you can bend em back that’s the power of 7 speed

Thanks you so much for the video! I have a question at 4:12 - 4:15 you describe how to tension that spring and the part with that little "tooth" that has to be tensioned behind that part of the derailleur so it cant snap back. I'm sitting here for hours trying to get that little bit** (sorry for the language) there but I can't seem to find a way doing it. Everytime I get that "tooth" behind the part where it is supposed to be I can't push it down. Plus because of the high tension the whole thing snaps back all the time so I don't even know how to put the mf plate that is supposed to hold the whole thing in place in there because I'm using both my hands already to tension that spring. I would be soo grateful on any advice on how to do that so I can finally rest in peace! Again, thank you so much for the video! Cheers

That spring is usually pretty hard to get positioned right, you’ll get better with more practice. Make sure the B limit bolt is out and use pliers for the steel retaining plate. Easiest way is to get the tab in position and push the bolt in after if it slides out. Hope that helps!

I take off the screw and use a thin allen wrench through the hole to be used as a lever to rotate the part to the right position. Makes everything easier and more secure.

I've rebuild my dx just now and thank you for this video. I also did what @Desi365 did but i use a screw driver instead to have more leverage. Thanks both of you. ✌️☮️☯️🕉️

Do u triflow pivot points?
@RetroRebuilds
@RetroRebuilds Год назад
No I use ultrasonic cleaner if not u can use some other lube not WD40

@@RetroRebuilds I guess I meant after cleaning do u lube pivot points with anything such as triflow? It seems to me that each rebuilder does things slightly different.
@RetroRebuilds
@RetroRebuilds Год назад
I usually don’t, the pivots are very small and when I clean them out with the ultrasonic they move smoothly plus they’re under so much tension the difference is minimal if they move smooth or not. So to answer your question yes you can lube them if you want just make sure to wipe off any excess and don’t use WD40. Triflow is a great lube for pivots actually so go ahead. I usually only lube pivots if they squeak
