Thanks for the video. What’s the ID & OD of that tool that you made up to take out the nut? Where did you get it what pipe did you use for making this tool. Having trouble finding one that has the right OD/ID. Galvanized iron plumbing pipe is too fat at .85 OD … I think you need .75OD & .55ID? Wondering where I can find this.

On mine, the handle was hard to tighten for a long time, then it skipped and has started to leak. The first plumber called said the cartridge needs to be replaced with an old one (from eBay), or a whole new replacement valve kit. My question is can it likely be rebuilt and which part is most likely to need rebuilding? the stem, or a washer?? thanks!

Nice rebuild video for the yoke. Where do the rubber washers go (I have not taken mine apart yet).

Thanks for the video. Ended up here accidentally by typing in my last name. In case you are wondering the correct way to pronounce the "Nie" portion of the name is like "knee". Have a great day.

Hi!! Need help!! I have this shower faucet in my home and it’s grown too difficult to turn on and off as well as adjust the water temperature. I’d like to upgrade the faucet but not sure if all Kohler single handle faucets will fit. Or do I have to replace the pipe where the pistons from this faucet push in and out to close the water lines? I’m so lost. TIA

All new parts are available for this faucet. It should make it a little easier to turn however this faucet will always be a little more difficult than Newer style faucets

What is the part number of trim that you cut off the stem? I did not see it in your links.

2:07 I think you adjust the Hot/Cold plungers and makes sure the washers/gaskets and the correct size and seated correctly.

I have this exact one. Ordered new yoke and seats. Assembled exactly like this… no water will come out of my shower head. What could I have done wrong? Tried everything with the yoke, flip flopped hot/cold, the plungers and flush in the new seats…. Water flies through when nothing is attached. So I’m sure it’s not a pipe issue. Something in the yoke/plunger/seat is blocking the water flow but I cannot figure it out :/

Just as a test.... unscrew the shower head to be sure there is no debris stopping up the filters. This sometimes happens when turnthe water off and back on. If this doesn't work, let us know

I got home and took the shower head totally off just to be sure. I just don’t know what it could be it’s literally 3-4 simple parts. The seats I didn’t over tighten just firmed them up. The only difference I didn’t mention is the old yoke was the spring backed plungers and the new yoke is the same as you have (the ones not that just set in the yoke freely). It’s so frustrating it’s gotta be something small somewhere…
@PlumbingPartsPro
@PlumbingPartsPro 2 года назад
That is frustrating. The fact that the new ones don't have springs make no difference. By any chance did you replace the stem? Sometimes the threads become brittle and wear out. It's possible this has happened and when you turn the handle, the stem just spins inside the new yoke not moving it in and out.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. The stem is in great condition and thread is fine. The handle grips and turns I can feel when it’s off position and I turn it on fully I can feel/hear the water try try to shoot out but only enough to where it drips a few drops out of the shower head. When I go to take the cover off and look at it or adjust the yoke as I was doing earlier when I removed the screws to the cover I could feel the pressure and some water definitely sprayed out a little and leaked out as I opened the cover…. So I feel like the handle is working as it should just fine but I’m not sure how exactly it spins or doesn’t spin the yoke inside. It still amazes me that this contraption allows hot/cold and on/off. Just looking at the insides as a non-professional it’s pretty interesting such simple parts but the actions seem much more complex

I'm a little stumped. Lastly check to see if the adjustment screw at the bottom is limiting the rotation of the stem. Good luck

Why do I have to crank it real hard to stop the water flow?
@PlumbingPartsPro
@PlumbingPartsPro 4 года назад
Most likely the seats in the valve body haven't been changed in awhile

I have the oldest version of this shower mixer and just replaced the disks. I still have to crank the handle hard to stop water from dripping and I although my water pressure is strong I don’t have hot water. It’s lukewarm or cold. Question: I changed the valve seats earlier. Could it Ben that they aren’t at the same exact level? Just thinking that’s why it takes so much to shut off the water completely.

@@crownmoldingbyspectaculart941 I have the same problem with the lukewarm hot. I replaced everything. Can’t figure it out

How does the regulating screw on the cover works? Is the yoke supposed to rest on it? Does it matter?

If your valve seats are stuck and rounded off - get this set from Amazon: Topec 25Pcs Screw Extractor Set - the 1/2 inch extractor is perfect size to back out a rounded off valve seat.

At the 14:41 mark, the video skips, and the section about putting on the yoke and any other info is missing.

It just screws on. The same way it screw off earlier in the video. Was there something you had a quest about?
