#Trade Nation thanks for the reply. Nobody ever does. Sadly my frame was bent and I couldn’t do much with it. I hope yours does and you get back out there
sweet !....................stellar job man !!! look better than new............when i was a kid i used to work on my motocross bikes all the time...changing piston rings when i was 10 years old....unfortunately i know dick all about the new water cooled bikes and all their funky technology....big difference between working on a little 1978 RM80 and a 1979 YZ80 and the new technology of today...wish i had stayed with it as i always have loved bikes and always loved tinkering with them but ended up in university instead of becoming a mechanic which was what i really wanted to do....such is life....still like to get out there and rip though...now 51 my love for riding fast and aggressively and never waned through all the years!
Looks sick but the music did my head in. Would of been great if you spoke about that you did. Good job though, wish i had the time patients and know how to tackle such a lengthy project myself.
zx6arrrgh Awesome job. also the video es great. Love to see it over and over again, plus nice choice with the song. Would you mind to let me know the name? please. Thanks P.S. I wish could do that kinda job in my bike. So jealous :)
I like the video! I laid down my 2003 Yamaha R6 a few months back and am having one hella time trying to put it back together. How much time and money did it take you to on this build?
wow man, watched the whole thing thru to the end, nice how you brought it all together, love the integrated tail lights. all of this must have taken so much time and effort, props, great job restoring that bike
bike looks great!! if someone had a gun to my head and told me to find some kind of criticisim, the only thing I would be able to come up with is different paint scheme, love the colors, but different scheme. but again that is someone holding a gun to my head. but everyone has their own opinions. either way I love the bike and respect the work you put in, what was the final price of the whole project?
Definitely easier than working on a car. You're gonna have to do a LOT of research though. For a real rebuild like this, you'd be in over your head without some help.
I am sixteen and have fixed up 3 bikes now. Just be smart about it and take your time and do it right the first time. I have done a lot of research on google and read Dan's Motorcycle Repair Course (it's free).
Thanks bro! not a lot to be honest! (essential stuff was) £150 on the fairings £50 on the lights £100 on service parts I prob spent another 500 or so on performance bits, but didnt need those!
Cheers dude. About 5 months, but it was over winter so I was in no hurry to get it finished lol! Also finished a pit bike over the same period. Check it out on my page if you wish :)
Cut the holes out the fairings, and filled in the gaps and with body filler. Then made up some metal brackets to hold in the lights. I got more pics somewhere!
So this guy I know wrecked his 06 R6 2 times, the second time all the fairings broke and scratched it up pretty good...Dude can sprayed it and its not even a good spray, and the back tail is all broken, he tapped them with electrical tape (LOL) and is asking over $2000 with over 30K miles on it lol saying its in good conditions....
Hi zx6arrrgh well done with the vid and of course the whole project. Impressive. I have picked up an old race bike 1999 R6 and plan to strip and rebuild, I am totally new to this but intend to take my time (and follow your vid), to get through this. Any chance I could make contact via email? Cheers
Good job, the bike looks great! Bit the only thing I wouldn't have done was the front lights, I think it would look nicer with a "squished oval" sort of shape! Other than that the bike looks amazing! How long did the project take you? And where there any screw ups that happened along the way e.g. Wrong parts ordered ect....
Wow man, makes me love my current r6 even more looking at hwat you've done. Did you make the loom up from scratch? You know though... the '6 looks pretty hot just as a "naked" bike as well! I would';ve been tempted just to leave her as is!!!
I love what u did great patients n talent for what u do I'm sure there's not much u can't do lol . If u don't mind me asking how much would a bike in that wrecked condition cost to start n how much did u have in parts ? I would love to start s project like this soon . I'm in the process of building a 80 CB750 in to a bobber . I own a YZ600R n a YZ450F n would love a r6 for when I ride alone ,n it would be so much sweeter if I built it my self .
Cool video. Dude. I'm about to tear apart my 2006 Yamaha FZ6. And rebuild the My Engine and Transmission. As well as all seals and what not. New everything, haha..
I got all metal plates out of my body and star thinking about doing all the work on my own, like you did, but after what I just saw........ fuck no, noooooo way !!!! You managed to scare the fuck out of me man, I was about to start doing this shit on my baby. Nothing but respect for what you've done, but for meeeee, I'm gonna go see my old "doctor", to fix my broken yammee.
hey i'm rebuilding my 2009 zx6r. i've put track fairing on it and i like the headlights that you installed on the r6. can you tell me where you obtained those lights. ? thanks.
hey bud, love what you did to that bike man! I'm building 05 zx10, and am wanting to use your Idea for the headlights, where did you find those? I've been looking for awhile now without any luck
WOW man thanx for this amazing video! I have an 07 R6 sitting in a shop (im in school/no time) I cant wait to get to work on it!!!! How long was the R6 in this video sitting before being used again?
I should have given you my wrecked HONDA CBR 600 RR 2013 REPSOL,(video on my youtube channel) damn! if I would have known that there are guys that can do this I would still be riding my nice repsol :( good job dude RESPECT :)
Hi, PLEASE HELP. I have a Yamaha R6 2005, I have done some mods and HID Conversion Kit of (H7 6000K/HID Slimline Digital Ballast/12V, 35W, 450Hz/E4 & CE certification/ISO9001:2000 manufacture) Both High & Low Beam A few times the headlight does not come on, I have to switch it off for aprox 10 seconds and back on again, it only then starts working. Now after 1 month both HID lights have stopped working. I tried wiggling and nudging the wires but both still don’t come on.
greenrolaids why not? My bike doesnt have stock plastics.. never been crashed and the bike is in perfect condition.. i changed mine out because the stocks looked like shit.
I've owned a 2005 Yamaha r6 for about 4 years and the plastics have been broken the whole time. I talk about doing this to it every season and I never do lol
may I ask if you sir are still alive, how long did this take and how much total were the parts and fliuds, and aswell as your backround for doing this?
sick vid i just think u should leave the rear tail light the way it comes and the front of the bike head lights to be stock again other then that the bike looks really good but once again it is your style and props for the rebuild
Nice job but my looked way worse than that let just say a crackhead had it and didn't know how to ride it But great work on your a lot of time and work I see
I got a few questions.. Im a newbie and I want to start if I buy an used bike lets say a yamaha R6 that has around 30k miles on it, does it have any chance to run longer than that mileage or is there any way to fix the engine and how much money is gonna be needed to repair its engine?
Great vid mate, Wishing you we're my Mechanic, you turned a totally unloved crap R6 into a piece of Art It must be worth a bomb now as 99% of them have seen the back end of cars (at very close up Angle) LOL, Then just been butchered WELL DONE TO YOU SIR!!!!!!
i only have one question, i was always told when spraying to hang it as it would sit on the bike/car. why do you just hang it at any angle. i mean if you are happy then thats all that matters but im intrigued
That's so cool! Did you go to school for motorcycle mechanics? If so where? I'd love to learn to fix up bikes like this and resell them. I'm planning on going to school for motorcycle mechanics soon so I'm curious thx :D.
Enjoyable to watch .... clear and well captioned.... Professional in fact. Only gripe is : would have liked a few seconds of the R6 on the road , a pass with the exhaust roar to bring to life the born anew machine !
