The mic is at the bottom of the phone and is the one that will be used when recording audio into the Voice Memos app. There is also a small mic on the back camera I believe in most new iPhones when recording videos using the new camera array. I almost forgot about that hoodie. Might dig it out for a new video. I quite like it too.

Is there any way to record phone calls on an iPhone? I’m in Canada and couldn’t find any apps or ways to record a phone call conversation. Most apps have the record capabilitiesBUT you have to pay for so many credits. Which is not what I’m looking for. Tks.

I don't think you can change the orientation of the display so the only thing I can suggest it to use apple headphones, wired or wireless to record and that way you can position it any way you like and get the same audio.

Sounds good. Yeah Garage Band can do that too.

It's vey hard to get rid of echo after recorded. The echo comes from the room acoustics so the only way to reduce it is to speak closer to the microphone or go into a smaller room. There are some filters you can use on desktop software but none that I have found that actually work on mobile apps. Yes you can do it using iMovie for OSX as you get an option to export a video to MP3 audio file. However iMovie for iOS doesn't give you this option.

There are no built in audio filters in the voice memo app. However you can download garage band if you haven't go it already and load up the audio file or even use it to record audio instead of the voice memo app. Then Add a noise gate filter and adjust the slider to reduce the noise in the recording.

Yes you certainly can. After you complete the recording. Tap on All recordings, tap on the audio file. Then tap on the title until it becomes highlighted, then rename it.

I am using the XR and I am pretty sure it uses the bottom microphone by default I think it would be the same with the 11. As for the stereo option I am not sure it would have an effect on the audio input being used on this app. You could try toggling on and off to see if you notice a difference but not sure it will.

You can only really insert after the last recorded section. If you want more sophisticated editing capabilities you may need to use Garage Band.

Not that I am aware of.

You can convert it to MP3 format using the Apple music app on your desktop computer if you you have an Apple computer that is. To do so you need to clip on the top menu of the music app, click on preferences and go to the Files folder. Click on import settings and change it from the default which will be AAC encoder to MP3. Then import the file you recorded out of your iphone into Apple music and it will be converted to MP3. To get it back out of Apple music as and MP3 file you can use just drag it from the app to the desktop.

You can change the file type in the settings section of iOS. Tap on settings, scroll down and tap on Voice Memos. Tap on Audio Quality. You can choose between Lossless and Compressed. To reduce the file size oaf the recordings, select Compressed.

No it doesn't use much battery life at all. I have recorded over an hour at a time and it doesn't go through much battery at all.

Yes it is a great app and easy to use for linear recordings. However for the editing you require you will need to use Garage Band which is a free download for your iPhone. There is an audio recorder and once you record your section of audio you can copy and paste it along the timeline.

Yes you can do that in notes app directly! Simply tap on any line in the note you created and the keyboard pops up form the bottom of the screen, at the very bottom you'll see an emoji icon on the left and a microphone icon on the right. Click on the microphone and start speaking, your a waveform will appear and as soon as you pause the text will appear on screen in your notes. If you don't see the microphone icon at the bottom go in to settings keyboards and enable dictation.
