i charge mi 5500mah 14.8v 35c from 0.0v using Nimh at 1.0v for about a minute each cell till i get to 3.5v each cell and now is working. thanks you very much.
+Hrvoje Kolarovic If you had to recover a dead battery, do not forget the battery HAS BEEN damaged anyway ! Keep in mind that this one is more "dangerous" than others
+Alexis Paques you're talking about the battery right? If you are that is correct. If a cell goes that low, it's chemestry will be afected. Then again I've been working with LIPO's for more than 10 years now and never had a accident with them. As long you're carefull you should be ok.
Doing this method with 2 of the cells on my 3 cell lipo. I’m unclear on the wire position in the middle or 2nd cell. Does it also need the negative lead to go to negative ?
sergio you are thorough and a good teacher so I pose a few questions if you are willing? I want to remove a cell from a 8s and make it a 7s safely to parallel with my other packs on my DIY e-bike can you help? I also wonder if packs of different capacity can be paralleled if I use a one way current blocking diode on the positive pole of the lesser capacity pack? ie. ESC 48-60v w 7s 5.8Ah & 5s 8Ah
lanell jackson 1st of all sorry for the late answer. Regarding you issue you can use different capacity packs in parallel but it's not advisable, unless you have an over-discharging protection circuit for every pack. As a whole, 2 different capacity packs will be discharged on a different rate, which means you can over-discharge the lesser capacity one. At least for my knowledge. Hope that helped. Best Regards
so one of my cells is dead..son got his quadcopter in a tree and it slowly drained the battery for 7 hours... one of the cells had 1 volt and the two others ahd 2.2 or so...but i went to jump it to life again the one cell went dead as i charged it..so its a gonner..the other two are ok i think..but my question is if i removed one cell of 3s 1500mah would it be a 2s 1000mah battery then..or still a 1500mah..
Yes, good video, but the Lipo in your video is not what I would call imbalanced....?...Putting it on a normal charge would bring all 3 cells into line anyway. I get the bit where you are using a 1S setting though because it's effectively a dumb unmonitored charge rate. I have a big 3S Lipo and one cell wont go above 3.76Vs...So maybe I will try it your way, but I think this Lipo is done for.
Thank you for your comment. When a cell reaches that low voltage, usually it's beyond the point of recovery but you can always try. Charge it to the same voltage as the others and make some charge/discharge cycles to the entire pack to see if it holds up. Even if it holds the voltage you need to stress test it to see if it doesn't goes flat when in working conditions. Best of luck.
+Sergio Pereira so, finally my wrong cell was dead - it doesn't go over 3.7V, it doesn't hold the charge and it starts to be hot when charging. That too bad in my case, but your tip is great and very useful for a beginner like me. Thank again for this video!!
My middle cell reads 0.00v I confermed this by opening up my battery and checking it manually and it reads 0.00 What do I do? I can only charge to a max of 8.--v. My quad needs 9 to 12
Hi I have a new 3 cell 11.1 volt lipo Only used a few times For some reason it is reading 0 on my charger and each time it fails and the charger will not charge it There is no bulging of the battery So how can i use my charger if it always reads with a low error and stops the charge
What if you do this and you get the low cell up to 4.20v but then you take it off the charger test it again and that cell says 4.10v or 4.09v and the other is staying at 4.19-4.20v does this mean the cell is bad?
Unfortunately this did not work for me. The bad cell I have is showing 1v. When I try to charge it, it just says low voltage. I even tried charging at .5
*So they will make a truck... That's good. For some time now I've been figuring "If Tesla really wants to make money, they'll make a viable ( **lovy.biz/44oi** )1/2-ton LUV fleet-truck.". And they plan to make Class-8 semi-tractors & buses as well? Makes me look forward to the first luxury EV motor-home, built with fixed roof-top & retractable solar panels, all powering the EM-induction cook-top, water-heater & washer/clothes-dryer. Add a water collection system with reverse-osmosis treatment & UV-sterilizing, and you'll be set to survive anywhere, anytime!*
I have a 3 cell LiPo battery that shows 2.4 3.7 3.7 (voltage respectively) I went to the shop to test it out and they said i cant use the battery anymore Is the cell (2.4) to low to do anything to recover it?
Ervin Wee Hi. You may try charging the battery as a NIMH till it reaches 9V or so. At that point the cell that appears with 2.4V should be higher and you can then try and charge it using this method to match the others. Once you do that you can balance charge the entire pack.
If i tried charging the entire battery as NIMH will the voltages of the other two 3.7V cells also increase? Will there be a risk of overcharging the 2 working cells?
Nic Holas That's a good sign. Next thing you should do is discharge them to storage voltage. 3.8v per cell. After that balance charge them to see if they go up equally. Best of luck.
