I have made other videos showing how to use special Sata-to-USB adapter cables to recover Picture, videos, musics, computer files, and data etc, from a hard drive that has crashed, and no longer boots properly, but what if you don't want to but those special cable, and still want o utilize this power techniques, to save your important information? No fear, .. If you have a desk top computer you can do just that. no need to even buy that extra cables. Most likely every thing you need is right there in that little black box, you computer desk top box, ready for you to take advantage of, and in this video I will show you step by step how to do that..

I really appreciate the help. It’s quite tough nowadays to find quality videos like these that get straight to the point. Installing the hard drive to a pc.....ingenious. Thanks again!

I just came back to say, thank you. I have an HP computer that is brand new and staggeringly, has only one SATA connection on the motherboard for hard drive use. I also had a drive from my previous HP computer with a ton of files on it I could not access because of the new computer's amazingly stupid motherboard layout. How was I going to get at my files? Thousands of them, including three quarters of a novel I am writing. Then I found this video. I realised that I almost never use the CD/RC player thing so I unplugged it and used the connections for the old drive. SUCCESS! Thank you, thank you, thank you. As for HP.....I will never buy another of their computers as long as I live and will advise everyone else to give them a miss also. They are over priced crap.

I found your previous video first dated 2016 and it looked simple enough and I was all set to go on ebay and buy the sata to usb adaptor. But then I read one of the comments you replied to in which you said you had a more updated and recent video - which of course is this one, and I think the above method is so much easier for me as I am certainly not a technical person. And also I have an old desktop pc with xp in my garage, so I will definitely be digging that out tonight and try this method. Cheers
@jaynesnetwork
@jaynesnetwork 6 лет назад
The other method might be simpler, since you don't have to open the computer... but this method is cheaper for sure, since you don't need to buy special cables. If you feel comfortable working inside the computer, this might be a good option to try.

Hi there, yes it worked, I was so relieved. And I've saved myself some cash. It was a bit tricky because the hard drive was located underneath the DVD drive, but I used a screwdriver to slide out the sata cables and then attach them to my laptop hard drive. Many thanks, great method.

Do you have any advice on what to do if you have an operational drive that failed a system restore giving blue screen errors in a laptop and when you plug said removed drive from the laptop into a operational desktop the desktop tries to boot from the corrupted OS drive putting the same blue screen error on the good computer? I've heard I may be able to delete the OS off the laptop drive by trying to load a new windows installation onto the corrupted drive and then remove the OS but keep files. Stop the new windows installation and then try plugging the laptop drive into a good desktop again to see if it will show files without error. Does that make any sense?

So you boot with the OS that's on your C drive, and make the dead drive a seperate drive (or a slave?) how did the drive die? mine's overheaten I think, won't boot, nothing nada, doesn,t make click sound what-so-ever, just a lot of bias bitching, and some broken pencils.. I hope this trick works, it was already on my mind, but you gave me more hope.
@jaynesnetwork
@jaynesnetwork 5 лет назад
This trick will only work if the hard drive is operational.. and it is only a software problem with the OS, so that it can no longer boot its own computer.. It is possible that the hard drive can physically fail, and then it is impossible to recover anything.. If it is getting hot, and acting strange.. it is probably a failed hard drive, and most likely you can not recover data from it.. one trick I found, is that sometimes the bearings can go bad, by getting to loose.. and if you put the hard drive in the freezer for some time before trying to read it, then the cold will shrink up the bearing, and sometimes it can help.. The hard drive can have a failed circuit board.. or some other mechanical failure.. if that is the case, there is no reasonable way to recover the data.. It is worth a shot. Does the computer recognize that the hard drive is plugged in to it?
@HateRedStephen
@HateRedStephen 5 лет назад
@@jaynesnetwork i didnt try yet, but the hard drive, whilst in the crashed pc, didnt make noise, the bias just didnt find the OS. I bought a new internal drive, that i'm gonna use for this trick. We'll see....

My hard drive got crashed and people said that I can’t recover my data,so will I be able to recover my photos and files with this method?
@jaynesnetwork
@jaynesnetwork 5 лет назад
It depends if the disc physically stopped working, or if only the OS that is corrupted. You can try this method, and if your computer is able to access the disc, then you should be able to recover your data,.. If you can't, and the hard disc is making a funny noise, or the hard disc does not spin up when powered up.. then maybe you are out of luck... The only way to know is to give it a try..

@jaynesnetwork

If you are able to access the drive, and see things on it.. that is all that is there.. Did you try doing a search for the files you are interested in?? Things may appear in different location when accessing a drive as a second HD. For instance 'desk top' will be in a buried folder, and not actually icons on your desk top any longer.. That privilege is reserved for the booting drive only.. It is possible that either the surface of the drive is damaged and that data is gone, or maybe the bearings are loose,... this is one method that causes hard drive to fail. It is possible sometimes, if it is the loose bearing problem, to stick the hard drive in the freezer for an hour or two, then try to read data before it warms up.. this can tighten up the bearing enough that you can read data for a short period of time, until it warms up.. Try a more thorough search of the drive first... Best of luck

@@jaynesnetwork it turns out that I accidentally stuck an older hard drive in. When I put the one in that crashed, it wants to boot from it rather than the new one. The new one isn't recognized in the bios but when I take the old one out it then boots from the new one

Good day, I was about to try this as a last resort since my computer (Dell Optiplex 755) either has a blinking amber light with no beeps or a constant amber light with no beeps, but I decided to ask your advice first. I've changed my cmos battery and cleaned and reseated my rams, but my computer still gives me a blank desktop/no signal message. I've tried just about everything recommended in videos pertaining to the topic, from force shutting down to restarting my computer after removing one ram at a time, but nothing works. Is there anything else you think I can do? Thank you in advance
@jaynesnetwork
@jaynesnetwork 4 года назад
I would try to back up your data, if these other things are not working.. then once your data is safe, if you want, you can build a new hard drive with OS possibly on a new computer??.. or you could try heating up the laptop.. It is possible that this problem is caused by a bad solder joint.. and heating it up may re-flow the solder??.. one viewer said he successfully used a hair dryer to heat the computer... But I would not recommend anything risky, until you back up your data first.. Hope this helps.. Best of luck!

I was able to get my old files by putting the hard drive from my laptop into an inateck external hard drive case. I was in the process of recovering files from my deleted files folder on my desktop when my computer failed. I have all files with the exception of my ColdFusion coding files. The project files are where they should be but all my ColdFusion (similar to PHP or ASP) files have disappeared. This is due to some mistakes I made with git and git hub. Is there a way to recover files that are in the recycle bin? Thank you so much.
@jaynesnetwork
@jaynesnetwork 4 года назад
Usually the files are still there until you 'empty the trash'. Did you check in the trash bin?? It is possible to undelete file using photorec, but you need to stop using the drive immediately! Those files are still in the back ground.. but the system will start writing over them! Here is a video talking about photorec.. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vLUpJOZmREs.html

I'm searching for ways to recover my old files from my dell towers cuz I REALLY don't have the $ for NEW pcs. I've been disabled for over 7 years now and need to keep busy, so I'm getting into "PC REPAIR" - but to fix MY own computers. Since I've decided to make THIS new approach to saving money, I'm curious as to what is on my old hard drives. When one pc tower "dies", I just get a refurb'd one and simply just save the "dead" ones.

I was able to recover files I never thought I'd see again! As I dug even deeper into videos on this subject, I ran across one showing how to use the optical drive inputs in place of a hard drive tester to boot the pc up from the old hard drive. The first question that came to mind was...do all optical drives just HAPPEN to have the same connectors as the hard drive testers? (I was using what sees to be the "go-to" tester - the R-DRIVERlll. I believe the computer used in the video was an HP. Was it just LUCK that an HP has(had) the right inputs or is it common to ALL pcs?
@jaynesnetwork

I believe that the optical drives use the standard SATA connectors, which is the same connectors that are used by the standard hard disc drives. It should be the same on all computer..

This hooking and unhooking your video camera from the tripod along with your shoving the camera so close to the subject matter while NOT adjusting the focus not only hinders one from actually seeing what the heck you are doing, but gives one an eye strain headache while attempting to discern what they are watching. But hey, I recon that if this is your first crack at doing a video, perhaps we should cut you some slack. Good luck on your second video in the making.

Thanks, I appreciate the constructive suggestions.. Yes whenever my computer breaks, I usually try to film me fixing it.. and if I am able to fix it, I try to turn that video footage into a self help video that may be useful to others.. These computer catastrophes are are real, so I just try to roll with the punches... I just stared doing this as a hobby, to try to makes a little extra money in this ever sinking standard of living we are witnessing in this country.. and possibly to fund some other interesting projects that I make video about as well. Maybe I should get a new camera??? I am comfortable with using this camera.. It stays in focus once it is set.. in contrast to some other cameras I have used where they will go in and out of focus as they please.. unfortunately sometimes I can not tell it is out of focus,... While recording... And when I'm fixing these computer issues, I may have only one shot at it.. (since once it is fixed I may not be able to break it again to do a re-take).. I am trying to do better with editing as well.. and Always trying to improve my techniques with the each video that I make.. Thanks again..
