I would add - ensure adequate Vit D3 taken with fat and magnesium - which is a known drug deletion for HRT - which facilitates Vit D effectiveness. Look here on youtube to rule out GTPS - greater trochanteric pain syndrome. If it is - then address that; don't cross your legs on affected hip, don't stretch but strengthen the hip with exercises you will be able to find on youtube, don't sleep on affected hip, side sleepers use a knee pillow, etc, etc. In peri/menopause our collagen reduces so the muscles that run over our hip are easily irritated. Also, even a 5% weight loss if required will benefit any joint pain. Menopause is about increased risk of heart disease, osteoporosis and dementia in women.

Good questions. BP goes up as we get older. It’s affected by diet/exercise/sleep all of which are affected by the menopause. I’m not sure about the association with piles though. Maybe related to pelvic floor problems.

Great information - I have been following a (mostly) anti-inflammatory diet to help with joint pain and arthritis and noticed that when I'm careful with my diet, my hot flashes are minimized (and vice versa - if I overindulge, suddenly I'm getting night sweats again). I've wondered what the connection between inflammation and hot flashes is, which I realize is outside the scope of your video and hip surgery practice, but I'd be curious if you have anything to add here. Thank you!

Thank you for your comment. As a surgeon I am fascinated by inflammation. We have to work with it to reduce the risk of complications. There’s a really interesting connection between inflammation, the immune system and aging. Hormones have a huge influence on this. Fluctuating levels of oestrogen and progesterone certainly affect the circulation and modulate inflammation. The body’s thermostat is sensitive to these changes hence the hot flashes.
