In this video I describe how I set up a microphone for use in my motorcycle helmet. I use this setup to record my comments while riding the motorcycle. For an example of how well this configuration works, give a listen to • Honda CBR500R at New Y...

This video is quite old so I don’t know that you will still check posts. The rubber glove trick did it for me! I have an LS2 Valiant 2 and it’s quite noisy. I’ve tried all kinds of things with my mic to take the distortion out when I get up over 40km /hr. Nothing worked. I cut the thumb off a rubber glove and put it over my mic that has a foam cover and dead cat. The sound of my voice is clear and crisp now. Thanks! This is an evergreen video. I’m glad it’s still up.

Thank you for posting this video. I still have hit and miss audio from my in helmet microphone. Going to have to try this option. Love how cost effective it is.

First, nice video not only on your track day video but your instructional video. Second, I was wondering if you knew if this would also work for a GoPro as well. Because with the GoPro's they are in a waterproof housing, I would have to drill through my housing to insert the mic in, or I believe they make a housing for it that has holes already pre-drilled. But either way just looking for an opinion really if you thought it would work or not.

Will try this! Isnt the audio very dull with the glove around it?

Why doesn’t GoPro have a BT audio input????????? My Sena helmet setup has perfect wind noise canceling. It’s nuts that GoPro requires a wired mic.

if the microphone starts out with a mono signal, you can't get true stereo by using an adapter. The adapter is only splitting the mono signal into two separate but identical signals. So you're technically getting "stereo" but it's really no better than mono, might as well get rid of the stereo adapter as it's not really improving your sound quality. To get true stereo you would have to use two mics or the Olympus ME-51S. Unless your goal was to get sound out of both speakers/headphones without using any post-production. In that case the adapter is probably the easiest solution.

Still get the noise. I need better helmet , plus better mic probably. Under the seat is ok. Maybe to put the mic behind my head instead behinfd the cheek pad

My problem is not the wind noise. The problem I have, is that when I close the visor. The sound gets amplified and it is impossible to understand what I say.

Try using A phone, and acheap mic. some apps use adaptive recording, they reduce loudness when loudness goes higher. so no clipping happens. 10 months late to treply but still :D
