It's important to note that what's supposed to happen is that all the toner level will reset to full, but that the flag gear will revert to the empty state immediately after installation. That's normal. What's not normal is that the printer still asks you to change your black. The best advice is to simply remove your black cartridge, reset the gear again, turn off and unplug the printer a few minutes, and then try again.

@chuckr613 When you reset the gear (if your cartridge is not a starter cartridge) to the "full" position, the toner level is reset.

Search online, that's all I came up with too. Basically, the printer thinks the belt unit is not well installed. At worst, you can always call Brother for support.

Hi I followed all steps (I also have the flags for the 4 catriges bought from your company) also set it on fullfilled state, but when I put the black's catrige (with toner inside, also bought from your company), of course doing every step that the Brother MFC9970CDW shows me on its screen, when it start to check the catriges out, it sets the flag gear on empty state. So after it marks "change toner k". what can I do for the printer takes catrige as fullfilled?

I cracked the fill plug when trying to get it out. Can I hot gule it together again or do I need to get a new plug? If so where do I get one?

Can I just reset the toner level on the MFC9560? or do I still need to change the gear setting?

You can use aluminum duct tape or similar to seal the hole. Alternatively, replacement plugs are available from inkowl.com
