I can't say enough about what I have learned from your videos. Ive been doing cabs for years (Bin-Stix-Advanced- spray doors/brush cabs) and want to up my game and finishes. I have been using a gravity fed American turbine HVLP- switching to the Accuspray after watching you. Again, thank you for the videos- so helpful
You are right on the money. Prep work is the key and all the other equipment needed and the upkeep of it. You are a true modern day paint master. Excellent result and satisfaction results in demands from customers who want quality that only can be produced by very few painters. Great job.
Great videos. A few questions: How do you prep your painted doors for the clear top coat? How do you remove the dust before the top coat? The tack cloth often leaves a yellow/orange mark on light colors, which seems incompatible with the clear top coat finish. How many coats of top coat do you usually do? Do you use the General Finishes clear poly top coat? Thank you.
Awesome video and information! Can't wait to get started on our kitchen. Question though, What is your go to clear coat for the GF Enduro? I saw your reply about it attracting dust like crazy. Thanks!
I’d stick with the enduro clear Poly. Found it’s best to stick within manufacture when doing multiple step coatings. Less chance for problems that way.
mike woodworth this was back when I used my old 3m accuspray turbine. I still have it around for a backup. It’s a 3 stage . And no thinning, it’s a very thin product already
tony S if you have a good relationship with a paint retailer near you, with tinting and color matching experience, ask them to either get the product or custom tint it for you
John Milkovich we do not caulk. We are located in Wisconsin and have large swings in humidity and temperature. As such the wood swells and contracts as it’s supposed to. Caulking those gaps is a guaranteed failure in my region as the caulk shears off and looks horrible.
I'm looking to make the cabinets more resistant to fingerprints and smudges by going to semi gloss vs satin in this same product. Is that ok or should I just go satin?
Love these videos--- so do you do the Enduro coats front and back in 1 day? and the metal from the lazy susan doesn't mar the back? I am impressed with this product.
Annette Tyrrell yes I do 2 coats in one day, rarely more that that though. If you were going to use this product I would definitely recommend clear coating it as it likes to attract every bit of dust and hair etc. I did end up going back and clear coating after this to give it some added protection
Great video thank you for posting. Do you have a local distributor of GF that tints for you? Or do you buy different bases and have a local paint shop tint? Thanks
EM Refinishing San Diego, Ca I’m lucky enough to have a local distributor that tints it for me all the time. Being in CA it might be a great product for you to try, but I would email the company directly. There’s also CIC coatings our by you and There should be a renner distributor as well. Might give @ericreason a follow on here he goes very in depth about a whole slew of coatings and manufacturers
thats an amazing finish! wheres the best place to order general finishes by the gal you think? i have 2 local vintage stores near me that sell it but normally only stock quarts and prob will charge more then what amazon sells but havent called to find out
Sounds like you have experienced sanding scratches n maple. What was your fix ? My fix was bulking up coats primer to hide. Maple is definitely a hardwood that scratches easily with wrong grit or wrong method . I know lol
What say you operator error. I hadn’t cleaned my gun out perfectly for a while and the packing seal behind the gun wasn’t seated properly. It was ignorance at the time + a serious lack of sleep and overwork
Hi Micheal, great videos, go look at doorrackpainter, it will change how you paint your cabinet doors and drawers. Both sides at the same time. I used to do it the way you do. It saves me 2 days per job minimum. Doug Hyland Dramatic Design &Decor LLC
Thanks for the compliment! As for the door rack painter, unfortunately over the years I’ve seen it spammed and email blasted in every chatroom possible. I’ve used the Paintline PSDR hanging rack and while it did allow be to do sides at once, the Spray time is the same . It’s benefit would be if I were using a very slow drying product
