Glad I found your video I was doing the same gear ratio, older style zip locker in a 08 60 today. My pattern is showing the same I pulled my hair out trying to get it perfect this axle is definitely a pain to set up I went back to where I had it. I feel a little better that you have confidence in the gear pattern I sure didn’t and after pulling the carrier 15 times today I’m going to run it. Thanks for the video

For sure. It’s easy to obsess over. But tbh, this axle has ran many many miles now in this pattern and isn’t showing any premature wear. It’s absolutely silent when spinning. Due to being a front axle…it’s under less stress and it’s a non issue. Technically one of the acceptable patterns. You’ll be fine provided the depth is good and the backlash is on point.

The 14 bolt is definitely easier. It will cost a bit more to make it a steering axle…but it’s a great axle for sure.

The height of used setup bearings often varies from new due to wear. Take time to do the following... Put your bearing and race together and measure the height. Do that for all the setup bearings and new bearings. Note the differences. Use that to compensate your shim stacks from setup to new. Great job with the videos! You're diving in pretty deep and presenting it well.

That would definitely make it easier. I didn’t think it was that necessary because I have done it a bunch of times and never had it be as far off as it was today. But that would have been something to mention for sure! Thanks for the support! Next week should be interesting!

Heck yea. After doing some adjusting and dialing it in…I got a GREAT gear pattern and everything is all set. But this one fought me. Now the fun suspension stuff starts.

First this is a great video series. I'm about to start a regear on a dana 60 and am curious if I should regear first or after I weld on the Artec truss? Will a case spreader work with a truss welded and or how will the seals hold up to the heat of welding? What are your thoughts. Thank you and keep the videos coming they are great.

Nice video. I was lucky enough to get a great pattern the first time. But getting the right pinion preload took maybe twenty tries. 😅

Thanks for the support! Yea it’s always kind of a toss up. But that’s great. I wound up with a GREAT pattern after taking it all back apart at the end of the video and messing with it a bit more. But this axle fought me. Probably worse than all the others I have done tbh. Happens sometimes. 😂 makes you really appreciate when it goes right!

It’s a complicated thing for sure. But if you start with video one…it’s not too bad. Watch it and pause it. Then do that step. Just keep moving through it that way. You’ll be fine!
