In this video I will be showing you how to re-key a smart key lock by Weiser. This is a great way to use only one key on all your exterior doors without having to pay locksmith. This will be setup on all 3 exterior doors at my place, I’ve been using their smart key technology for over a year without any issues. #weiser #smartkey #locksmith
First is taking the supplied key with the new door handle and inserting it into the lock. As you can see, it does work with the lock.
The key must be rotated clockwise 90°.
Once it’s in that position, using the supplied tool, there will be a small rectangular slot which this tool is pushed into.
Remove the key and insert the new key.
Once that new key has been fully pushed into the lock, remove the tool.
Now rotate the new key 90° in the counterclockwise position.
Rotate it back and forth to ensure it is working correctly. When the key is straight up and down, try to pull it out. It should stay in place. If the key pulls out, the procedure was not successfully done. Then rotate the key counterclockwise in the down position, operating both the lock and unlock positions.
Then put the key in the neutral position and remove it.
Try the key again to ensure it is working correctly.
As you can see when I insert the old key, this key no longer works anymore.
However, when I insert the new key again, it is still working correctly.
As you can see both keys have a different cut. You are officially done. Be sure to save the old keys in case there is a malfunction, then you can go back to the old key to have the lock rekeyed again.
