You might have saved me many dollars..... To confirm then, I am changing GS bikes (1200-1250) and keeping the vario cases, so I DO NOT have to buy new tumblers, just re key as you state? The Salesman said that I need all new tumblers. Just confirming. Many thanks, great upload!
I just wanted to swap the cylinder from one case to another I bought on ebay. Others would have you "pick" the lock which you could do quick if lucky or a while if you're not. This will take a fixed amount of time and removes the blind hit or miss frustration from the whole operation. Thanks

Great video, just bought a used GS with a full set of paniers but they keys would not lock them. Just followed your guide and 30 minutes later, all 3 loxk and unlock with the main key. Thank you
I had the same thing happen on a key switch for a bike I had in the past. I just filed the tumblers down until they were flush with the barrel. Worked great!
Thx for the vid! Question - isn’t it possible that my cylinder may not have all the necessary 1, 2 or 3 tabs to match the key? Iow, if the key requires a combination of 1-2-3-1-2-3 but the cylinder doesn’t contain any ‘3’ tabs then I wouldn’t be able to match the key without getting/buying some ‘3’ tabs (??)
I haven't been able to find the tabs alone, but that would be ideal if necessary. Replacement cylinders are around $40 unfortunately. It's also worth mentioning that some number of tabs can be left out and the lock will still offer some amount of security, so you can probably get away with half the pins or more.
