Don’t do it all the time, it’s good to feel anxiety and let the body do what it does so you train your brain out of bad habits. Don’t try to stop it just let it happen then the body will adjust automatically and won’t even have to think about it.
@@patsummer135 I mean for the people who put in actual effort and solved anxiety naturally it does but for the people who want quick outs, never solve the problem, take medication all day or suppress anxiety with bad habits I guess not. Can’t save everyone I guess.
@@BrandurnPorchiga anxiety can be treated well, exercise / healthy eating and all that kinda stuff is great, but positive thinking is the real jewel in the crown! Stay positive at all times, can even sort out other stuff too, PMA!
@@BrandurnPorchiga i get what you're saying, but when you've got a baseline much higher than the norm, these definitely help us get to that level of "normal" anxiety you described. I do things like this and don't feel relaxed, i feel a normal level of calm. The Flinch is a good read if anyone wants to learn about balancing it out.
Wow, your attempt to help us knows no bounds- you not only tell us, you SHOW us so we're sure to do it right and get great results. You throw in a little humor, too. Thanks for all you do to help us. Much appreciated.
You are such a super human! You give your knowledge away for free without expecting anything in return! May God Bless you and protect you always and give you many blessings ☺️
I've experienced more relief from following the simple advice on these videos than I thought possible. My health is increasing daily. Thank you for blessing my life.
I do ALL of those things you're listing to do, but especially the chewing gum, sucking on a hard candy/cough drops and running cold water on my hands (if I'm at work) or holding a cold bottle of water against my skin 😅ooohhhh that always feels so good!!!! I think I've watched so many of your wonderful videos that I know by now what I need to be doing to relax myself 🥰 Love you Dr M ❤️🙌🙏
Oh, goodness, Get rid of hard candy and chewing gum-- they are TERRIBLE sugar habits that will make your situation worse! Get rid of White Sugar, manmade high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, maltodextrin, etc. And fake sugars are linked to headaches, increased appetite AND insulin resistance (prediabetes)! No joke! There's NO upside to that stuff, and I'm surprised Doc would approve of them, much less recommend them! It's Much Better to choose a way to stimulate your vagus nerve that doesn't include sugars and fake sugars!
Wonderful things to do Dr love all these great must do’s looks like tomorrow I’ll be dumping my face in cold water🥶 and at church I’ll sing my heart out😵 God’s love and Blessings reach out to everyone 🙏
I love all your ideas and information to stimulate the vagus nerve. I also enjoy and smile with your prompts of singing, humming, gargling etc. Dr. Mandell I am going to do all of these. Thank you for all you do and share with us with such enthusiasm.🙌💜🌟😃
I watched this video today just coincidentally after receiving some anxiety causing news. I tried the rubbing behind the ears technique and I immediately felt my whole body relax after just a few rubs. This is not just placebo effect, I could feel the waves of relaxation in my arms , jaws and torso. This is really amazing!
I went to my doctor 3 years ago with back of head upper neck pain, it was a few months after my mom passed away, he never once mentioned the vagus nerve, 6 months later I was in the gastro department getting a colonoscopy (mom died of colon cancer) and I’d been having gastro issues, 3 years later here we are and finally the same gastro doctor has recommended physical therapy consulting for my vagus nerve. But only after I’d read about it in my own research. Three years of feeling like I’ve been in fight mode and on the verge or crying, serve gas and stomach issues, throat is inflamed from acid reflux, I’m finally starting to feel like I’ll be able to get control over my life again. Because of how relaxing many of these vagus nerve exercises I’ve seen people posting online.
@@karfamily honestly anything on you tube helps. Humming ohmmm sound stimulates it. Cold water. The physical therapist just taught me how to breathe with my stomach because she noticed I was only breathing into my chest. I still have stomach issues but now I don’t have as much irritability and now when I feel pressure on organs from gas I get up and move and practice the breathing into my belly. I still have issues but now I’m not on the verge of crying every time. For the acid reflux I cut out so much from my diet, was on a low acid diet for a while. Healing frequencies on Spotify or RU-vid help. One of the vagus nerve exercises was looking as far over your right shoulder, you can stand or sit, twist as far as you can in neck to look at something over your right shoulder. Hold for like ten seconds, then on the left side repeat. Then without moving your head, just use your eyes to fixate on something as far as you can to your right as you can look without moving your head. Hold for 30 seconds. Then do this again with your eyes only to look as far as you can to your left. Hold for at least 30 second or until you feel like yawning. Then your suppose to be able to look over your right shoulder again with turning your neck but your suppose to find that you can now turn a little deeper in the neck than before. Again on the left. I’ll try and find some of the videos tho. But it didn’t help cure my stomach issues, it just helped me manage the stress of the stomach issues better.
@@karfamily ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rbowIy6kONY.htmlsi=7GzLJDlQ7A3hjTrw something like what this man does in this video. But the one I was taught didn’t include arms. I guess there are many diff exercises. But yeah it didn’t cure me. Just helped me handle the stress and the fight or flight feelings, but I think I’m turn that did help my stomach also. I hope you find relief ❤️❤️

And I guess I forgot to include the arms in the exercise I was trying to describe above. So thank you for messaging which had me looking back at the videos that helped me months ago! And correcting what I’d forgotten. 😅
@@MiddleAgedMillenial Thank you so much for your reply. I had bad acid reflux after my dad passed away from cancer in 2019. It was a stressful time. I was on omeprazole for few months and then I gradually weaned myself of PPI. Did lot of google search to understand what food to avoid, not to eat too late at night and avoiding spicy oily food like pizza etc. I was always a healthy eater and also was walking regularly before the bad reflux happened but stress does so much harm to our body that I feel that even eating healthy food or doing exercises will not help IBS or acid reflux unless there is a way to reduce or manage stress. Even following low FODMAP does not help . So was looking into meditation and then in one of the videos I came to know the relationship between vagus nerve and digestion. The exercises you mentioned I think I saw them in some videos. Will see them again.
Dear Doc,at this juncture of life Am blessed to know my niece's Spouse rolling out as a pastor! Faith went thru' fire, waters, ppl's Opinions so touched passed All tests am on the other side! Celestial authority knows my heart of which Did not fail, the ONE Nor failed myself!
Wow , Holy Spirit spoke this to me a few years ago ! Spot on 💕didn’t know where it was or what it’s function was . I heard a Physician operated on this nerve and his patients are no longer diabetics !
I can't believe that I only this year heard about & learned about the vagus nerve & it's significance for health ! Thank you for all your helpful tips. They are appreciated by so many ppl !!
I was getting chest pains from cronic stress during anxiety attacks. The ZAMAT neck stretcher immediately relieves the pain and relaxes me totally!. I’m amazed at how effective it is. It is becoming a life changing tool for me. Hope this may help other that have anxiety issues.
Thanks Dr. Mandell, this finding is exactly what in Muslim faith Ablution is. After performing Ablution five times a day we really feels very relaxed. Thanks again
The cold water works best for me ❤Thanks Dr you have helped change my life for the better with your Chanca piedra video and serrapeptase ❤it has helped with my Kidney stone disease 😢

Oh my goodness I have such bad anxieties. I’m gonna try this and then I will get back to you people and let you know but what I’m reading from the other people. It sounds good so thrilled. I love you Dr. Mandel I really do and I pray to God for you and your family, and everyone who’s around you I pray for each and everyone of themand what comes out of your mouth I know it’s from God. Amen.
The humming. It really works . Little known fact...All of traditional buddhist chantings emphasised on the extended "ngggg ....." sound. Must have been one other way to activate the parasympathetic nervous system ( pacifying effect of the biological system) . No wonder even listening helps to calm down. Even the monks code of discipline of not taking solids after midday must have also been to improve the gut cleansing and thereby improve the other systems.
With motivational doc whenever I see a new video, I just click like right away before I even watch it. Love you so much. You are safety, honesty and purity in this world. I feel at home in a strange land when seeing your vids. 💗💗💗
Wow you are the best. I learn alot. God says the last days he is going to do alots of miracles, I was asking God how? Now I can see Dr. Through you this is miracle to know what is right to do. God bless you and your family with Jesus name and Blood and body Amen Amen Amen.
When I'm dealing with high stress, anxiety, or a panic attack I hop into a vat of cold water and it all goes aeay cause A. What you said and B. My brain can't think of anything but how cold it is.
As a Muslim the gargling we do and wiping the ears as you showed which is part of the wudhu or purification process before we pray 🙏 the wisdom of Allah is amazing and there’s so many physical benefits as well as spiritual
@@tanyawieczorek6603 Hi Tanya, so yes we gargle with water which carries many benefits. A 2005 Japanese study concluded that gargling with plain water atleast 3 times per day helps prevent upper respiratory infections (colds) by over 30%.
