Here's what I learnt: 1. Active Learning. (Find out more about the topic that you are going to learn. Google it. Look at the happenings, gander at the pictures pertaining to it if possible. This short-term curiosity will help you remember the topic for long-term. It will help you to visualize and understand the topic in a holistic manner without solely depending on the facts and numbers.) 2. Relate the topic with happenings of the past or present just to make a sense out of it thus remembering it for a longer time. 3. Acronym method also work but limit it. Understand the topic and its umbrella; later go with active compartmentalization. 4. Try to talk about what you've learned. Either make a quiz to solve it yourself or explain it to a friend and ask his opinion on it. 5. Highlight as less as possible. 6. Only make notes for the most important things.

To remember something, I watch a documentary on them from a reliable source like BBC, discovery and many more channels. Another thing that works for me is that, I read a topic and then take out a sheet of paper and write everything I could recall and then tally the same with the book and then add the missing part in colored pen so that I could remember what I skipped while recalling.
