We can also consider 'at dawn' an exception, I guess.

Hi Teacher . Let me tell you my story: My name's John, I was born in Africa so, English is my third language. My original language is Portuguese. I was born in a country where education it was very poor. I left my country when I 25 years old. I have never spoken English before I came in London. I have been living in London for about three years. So , When arrived in London, I felt many difficulties learning English , English at that time sounds weird , strange, but I started researching on RU-vid, that's helped me a lot, and now after attend so many videos like these, I am felling more comfortable, confident., when I speak English, you now, I could not even write. I am sure that I need to learn more and more , because I need to become English Teacher in the future. After attend your videos you gave me courage, and motivation for not give up. I want to thank for your videos that's is helping me a lot. I don't know exactly what is my level. I would like to know what is my level, could you help me about that? Thank you for your wonderful videos .

I'm a person that need to find logic if I want to learn something, some years ago when I was studying english at an academy, I was always struggling with those prepositions (even today), I always asked my teacher the why of many things including this topic, and I was always taught to memorize things instead of asking because is "English" and there is no logic in everything, but let me tell you that from today I think I going to remember this because you teach the WHY, that's why when I found your channel a year ago, I began to follow you and believe that I have learn more from you that from the many academies where I have been studied, most teachers just focus on the money and don't worry to really teach. I really appreciate your method of teaching and your time for making this videos, I believe that in some future I'm going to have a good accent and fluency as yours. I really recommend your channel, your blog, your podcasts and the community you have build on facebook, they help a lot!

As a native US speaker, and someone who’s creating a made-up language in their free time, I love your videos. English has so many elements that I’ve never consciously thought about, and you explain them with both amazing detail and clarity. BTW, the intro “Hey guys! It’s Hadar” and from 0:43 to 1:35 in the video sounded 100% native! Beyond impressive!

Hi Hadar, a question I often get asked is "Do you say ON the weekend? Or AT the weekend? I know for sure that we Brits usually say AT the weekend, but I think Americans tend to say ON the weekend? Is that right? And do you guys ever use AT the weekend? It's kinda strange, that even though I'm quite the consumer of American film/TV series, as many Brits are, I'm still not sure what you guys would normally say! btw, I checked in the video description to see if there was any additional info there about 'on/at the weekend', and found that last piece of text about being unique and speaking English your own way, and that is a really awesome piece of advice! if you don't mind, I'm gonna copy that (with credit) to a FB group I have for language learning stuff :)
@hadar.shemesh
@hadar.shemesh 6 лет назад
Hey!! Sorry for the delay. Yes, of course you can share it. I'd be honored. You're right. In the US you'd say 'on the weekend' but in British English you'd say 'at the weekend'. Here it's an idiomatic expression so it doesn't necessarily follow the rules I discussed. 😊

Thank you for the video, very informative and to the point! I think "at" is also used with celebrations or holidays: at Christmas (but I guess: "on Christmas eve"), at Easter (sorry for the Christian references but I'm only familiar with them, but I guess one can also say "at Hannukah"?). I think there is also the pair: "at the weekend" or "on weekends"

Adorable video! But why do we say “in the daytime”or “in Shakespeare’s time” as the rules say to use “at” with the word time, e.g at that time, at lunchtime etc.? Why do we say “on the night of arrival”, or “on the evening of the tenth of Jule” while we usually say ”at night”, and “in the evening”? Thank you in advance for your explanation.
