Thanks 🙏 I have heard of an android app that can do that in conjunction with some sort of dongle. I am an apple user, so I don’t know the details, but I believe it is possible. Don’t quote me on that though 😅

@@RedFrameTech :D Dont worry :p I have been researching this afternoon and I have found a handful of apps, but almost all or all of them are for android. One of the most interesting I found is USB CAMERA (and PRO version too), and I quote it in case it is of interest to any user. Unfortunately for IOS I can't find anything equivalent. Perhaps investigating the topic of OSB for live broadcasts... we'll keep looking! ☺

Thank you for this video :) I have the S1H and when I turn on WiFi my camera screen gets black. So I nether can see my image on the camera monitor and my phone at the same time. Is there anything that I need to adjust in my camera settings?

You’re welcome 🙂 As far as I know, that’s the way it is with the S1H. I don’t believe there’s a setting that changes that unfortunately

The S1H does that after 30 seconds, and there's no menu setting to change it, but if you connect an HDMI dummy plug (or plug in an HDMI monitor) the EVF/LCD will remain on. You won't be able to use the camera's control dials, its AF button, or tap-to-focus on the LCD; you'll have to use FieldMonitor for those control functions. And you'll need to remove the dummy plug to enter/exit the Wi-Fi menu. The lens's focus ring remains active so you can still focus by hand, and you can still flip between AF and MF without problems.

Hi, I use ImageApp with Lumix GH5 and it works well. The only big problem is that if I adjust the camera directly the app freezes for a few annoying seconds. I would have preferred to be able to disable the controls to be able to use the iPhone as a field monitor.

Yeah, that’s definitely annoying. Panasonic don’t seem to update their app either

The camera disallows remote control while on-camera controls are being manipulated. FieldMonitor doesn't block the view while this happens; it disables its controls and says "camera busy" only for as long as the camera blocks remote control. You can still see the full image and controls are re-enabled the instant the camera allows them.

great video. can you do a video about v-log and how to convert it with rec709 on premiere?

Thank you 🙏 I won’t be able to make a video involving premiere pro though.. since I am a Davinci Resolve user and have never used Premiere. It might be worth switching to Resolve since the workflow with V-log is so easy. As is the conversion to Rec709. I think I will make a video about V-log though. Maybe in combination with an Atomos Ninja V and Davinci Resolve.

I am looking for a way to record videos with about 3 -4 meters camera to subject while being in the video and running it all. Can any of these apl support plugging the mic into a tablet to record the audio as well as control the camera, and sync it all together without post processing?

Unfortunately, no. The apps won’t record audio. They’re just for monitoring and operating. Not for recording. The best way to have the least work in post would be to record everything with timecode (if your cameras/audio recorders allow). But this can get expensive

Do you have any affordable external field monitor recommendations?

It really depends on what situations you’re going to use in and what you need. But generally, if you are going to use it outside a lot, look for one that has a very bright screen. 1000nits is usually good enough. And look at tools you need, like focus peaking, false color overlay etc. Feelworld makes some good affordable monitors. Some with a very high brightness. AndyCine also makes affordable ones. If you also want to record externally, then an Atomos Ninja V is a good choice, because it also has a bright screen and all the tools you need. But a lot more expensive.

@@RedFrameTech thank you. Dont need to record externally. Iv noticed the cheaper ones are around 500 nits. This wouldn't work well at all outdoors? What about with a sun hood?

@@NE_Pigeons a sun hood will help. If a very bright one isn’t within your budget, then definitely get a sun hood for it. Will make a big difference

Hi. I don’t think there’s a power zoom lens in L mount. That would be the only way you could zoom with the lens via the app.

Yes, with FieldMonitor, tap and hold briefly to move the focus point (in AF mode, one-point AF). The camera will refocus immediately. In MF mode, tap and hold to move the focus / focus-mag point, then tap the AF button to refocus on it.

When i use the app, the screen on the GH5 is blacked out. With the text "remote operation". I would like to view the image on both screens. How do i make this work??

@@RedFrameTech I found the solution thank you very much. Menu->Setup->Wifi->Wifi Setup->Priority of remote device->Camera You are now in Smartphone priority for the remote device.

That could have something to do with how the energy saving mode is set up on your camera. But I don’t own an S1, so I can’t test it

S-series Panasonics all do this, but you can prevent it by plugging in an HDMI monitor or an HDMI dummy plug.

There doesn't appear to be a way to do it in either Image App (GH5) or LUMIX Sync (GH6) on iOS, so there probably isn't a command to control it remotely. But if you enable it on the camera itself, the zebras will show in the remote app's image.

Are you using it with a G9? In the Lumix Image app there is a ‘full screen’ button in the right bottom corner of the live viewer. In the Lumix Sync app there’s no full screen option

Tbh, I mostly use an Atomos Ninja V. But for people that don’t have the budget or need for that, a phone is a great option + you can control camera settings that way.
