I need to put on a matching spare tire and was trying to make sense of the manual with where the extension went in and was failing. This makes A LOT more sense now! I told myself, "there's no way it's this difficult to remove the spare. I can see why people mount them on a rear swing out!" Thanks for posting this!
I came out to the store parking lot to find a flat front tire. I just bought the car and was looking for the back hatch to lift up and reveal a tire. I decided I better you tube it and you come up so calm and cool and measured that I could do what you were doing right along with you. First thing I thought was I should marry you and the second thing was gratitude for your video. Thank you.
Same! I’m out hunting and this just saved me as well since I hadn’t actually done this on this vehicle yet. Manual is one thing, seeing it actually done in a video is another.
Great video! I would like to add a helpful hint. If you are having trouble finding place to insert the brown mechanism, you can look under the car and see how it is fed into the pulley system. Notice that the screw is almost touching the bumper when it is fully seated.
Good video! I helped an older man today change the tire on his 4runner. I noticed he was struggling with the job, so I offered to help him. I noticed he had your video pulled up on his phone. Not sure where he got confused while watching your video, but he was trying to use the hook for the jack to lower the spare tire. He managed to get it through that hole in the plastic and everything, lol! I didn't watch your video then and there, just made a mental note to look later. Did it the right way, and got him on the road! Your video is very straight forward, so I'm still wondering how he got so confused... anyway, like button smashed!
THANKS. Your video helped me get the stupid tire off. Why make a mechanism that you can’t see and cannot use the hole to lineup and find a nut. At least your video told me the direction to poke it in to finally find it that is crazy.
Was stuck on a trail in middle of nowhere with no bars and a flat. I completely forgot how to get the tire down and after standing on top of my car I thank gd got 1 bar. This video literally saved me and my gf!!!
Thanks for posting this video Brotha. Soon as I seen the Chuck Taylors I knew just from that this is a guy that probably understands the basic essentials needed in Life. You got a new subscriber.
I am noticing some of my components look rusty underneath the tire. Is there any concerns with rust and what what should we do to prevent any features from not working?
I just had my spare off my car and used Boeing T-9 spray for some anti-corrosion. It’s waterproof lubricant at I have had good luck with, just don’t spray around the exhaust system.
For some reason my brand new toyota ccame with flat spear tire. Now i have to take it out to put air in it, cus dealer want to have it for whole day. But i need it
The tool with the screw that attaches to the two-piece extension (that the video says should be pointing away from the vehicle did not come with my new 4R.
No way I could not put the jack handle to line up to put the spare tire down, had to call 3A, also did not have a screw driver to put the jack handle together, now if I had seen your block of instruction, I would not have been a clown on the side of the road. This is going to really help somebody, too late for me........BB
