Learn how to remove and replace a chainsaw clutch with no hassle or special tools necessary. All you need is a rope, a spark plug wrench, and your saw! While I have a Jonsered saw, this will work on all models, though the design of the clutch may differ.

Awesome video. Thank you. I'm out of town with an echo chainsaw and the oiler isn't working. Took it to three shops and they are not able to service it this week. Not their fault (I understand they're busy) but I left my tools to remove the clutch at home and was hoping they could save me some time. Nope. I'll try this now to get me going. Thank you.

If you don't have rope (like me), you can use the handle of a small pair of pliers (make sure they're rubber coated) and whack the clutch with a hammer whilst holding the tip of the pliers, that's how I got mine off. Thanks to this video I found out which way to hammer it off 🤣🤣

Instead of tapping the clutch I put plyers in the groves and used an adjustable wrench across the need nose plyers. Mine was on so incredbly tight... I ended up have to use a lit of force. Now it doesnt idle correctly. Do you think I broke a seel or something? Maybe I bent the piston?

If the crankshaft itself was damaged, you'd probably have more symptoms like knocking or vibration. If its just the idle, a seal may have been damaged. Spray some carb cleaner around the shaft when its idling. If it revs higher, there is probably a leak.
