Back when I shared my Daniel Defense PDW suppressed video I received a few comments asking how to remove the original DD muzzle device. So here is a how to video.
Thanks for this video. I bought the DD soundguard SG-30 for my DDM4PDW, really tossed around between that, sandman-s and nomad30 but ultimately settled on the new soundguard. Wasn’t sure how I was gunna remove the comp but your hot water idea helped… I think. I did boil water, remove from heat and held the comp in for almost a minute, then I used the tool that came with the soundguard and a hammer to kinda tap on the end of the tool until it broke loose. I probably coulda done the same with my armor wrench but the tool DD provided for the soundguard fit much better. Anyway got em off and the can is now in place. Happy days.
To avoid scratching metal finishes, an old leather belt works pretty well under the jaws of your pliers or pipe wrench. There should be a non metallic tool for that beautiful device you removed. I don't know of one though.
Yo, huge thumbs up. Going silent tomorrow and this worked like a magic spell. I don’t mind scratching my gats while using ‘em but I hate leaving marks at the bench. 🤙
My understanding it's the water that dissolves The Rockset, not the heat. Heating it with a heat gun won't take it off. Heat takes off Loctite. Otherwise great video. Thanks for sharing.
@@shotcityguns i tried channel locks but the flash hider is nested in the hand guard so it’s not sticking out at all to where i can grab it with anything. and i can’t even remove the hand guard til i remove the flash hider which sucks so im tryna find something that can kinda reach inside my hand guard and twist from within. strap wrench might not even work but ill try anything atp
