Thanks for checking out the Video! I hope it can help save you some stress and headaches if your Primary/Driven Clutch is stuck and won't come off! This is a tried and tested method and as you can see by watching the video it works great. I will not damage anything and is much safer than hammering the puller or trying to force the clutch off in other ways. If you find the video helpful please leave a comment and a thumbs up! Also, make sure to Subscribe to the channel to stay up to date with future uploads! #TeamAJP

I need HELP! Just got my first utv. Been sitting for a couple years. It will free roll some but when in gear and under power it seems as if somethings stuck. Almost like a stuck park brake.. but immediately after getting out of the fuel it will roll back the other way freely if ur on the least bit of incline. I’m learning about these belt driven systems a little but can the clutches act stuck like that because they are only engaged only if given a certain amount of rpm’s? Cause it seem much worse in reverse. Almost have to floor it to get it move at all but at an idle it will freewheel roll. I’m worried I may have much bigger issues than expected. Thanks ANYONE for any input!

I know this video is 5 years old but man, you saved me a lot of headache. 2010 Polaris Ranger 800 that had never had the primary off it. I'd been fighting with this thing for days. I lifted the machine a little, pumped the hole with gear oil, lubed the threads with grease, and sent her home with the impact. It came right off. Thanks so much.

This trick worked for me on a CFMoto ZForce 950/1000 Sport with a CVT Trailboc clutch that wouldn't come off with the clutch removing tool. I had already greased the threads, so I just added some oil until it started dripping out the hole, then quickly fed in the clutch removal tool and used an impact wrench and it popped of. Not as violently as in the video - it only jumped off the tapered shaft about an inch or so. Big thanks for making the video!

Hey Peter!! Glad to hear this old school snowmobile trick helped you. I haven’t tried it but multiple people also have told me you can use soft toasty bread instead of grease. On smaller machines like ATVs and Snowmobiles I know people will tip them over and use water also. However, I feel grease usually works better for this application and it’s much easier to clean out then bread I’m guessing. If I ever make it over the pond to your neck of the woods I’ll take you up on your beer offer 😉😉 🍻

I wish I would of found this before. But now I know for future jobs? Science does rule! Eugene Oregon 👍🏾 FYI- I did get mine off with impact and tapping with my 2lbs brass hammer. But definitely going this route in the future. I had to partially rethread the CS because the puller did some damage. Be careful and I recommend this route if it doesn’t want to come off.

100% works. I used a strip of electrical tape to cover 90% of the hole, squirted engine oil in the hole. Used Teflon tape on the removal tool (puller). Quickly inserted the puller, threaded in the puller as fast as I could, then pulsed the impact and after about 9-10 pulses, it literally POPS off. AMAZED!!!!! Thank you!!!!!

Just about any liquid will work. Water is hard to get to stay in there unless you lean the machine, which isn't always an option on a larger machine or if the machine is on a hoist. That's why I used grease and oil this time.

Volkz VLOGS Soap! BREAD!! Lol! Realistically anything soft like that would work I guess. I guess my engine oil and grease was a boring choice, lol. Getting the bread out would be really hard after because the hole is so deep. You’d have to soak it and blow it out. Bread sounds like a hippie thing I’d use on my VW bus, lol. Thanks for sharing man, that’s super interesting. Has anyone else used any other weird substances? Lol. Most people probably just use water. Booooring 😂😉😉

There are a few good videos like this showing that trick. I love your enthusiasm and creativity! However I've been trying this trick plus others shown on RU-vid and mine still has not come off of a EZGO Marathon. 🤔 After letting the thing soak in oil and even hitting it with the hammer on the backside of the clutch it did not budge. After that I tried Teflon tape on the puller threads and the thing still won't come off using a custom built impact wrench for race cars! 🤣 At this point I'm open to other ideas even heating the thing with a torch.
@AdrenalineJunkieProd
@AdrenalineJunkieProd Год назад
If you load it full of grease and oil and have a strong enough impact it should work. Could your clutch shaft be bent? I’ve heard of people using bread even lol. That sucks it won’t come off. In wish I had a solution for you. I know it’s frustrating.
@otahu26
@otahu26 3 года назад
I broke a crank shaft one time by using an impact gun. Note for newbies.. When you put it back on. Rub some dielectric grease on the tapper..it'll keep it from rusting together.
@AdrenalineJunkieProd
@AdrenalineJunkieProd 3 года назад
Ya, breaking the crank is a possibility. However, options are very limited in this scenario and it's a risk you need to take. Luckily it's very very rare that the crank actually breaks. The press fit on the taper is so tight that even if you grease it I doubt there will be much grease left after you torque it down. With that being said it's still not a bad idea to do that. I did.

@AdrenalineJunkieProd
@AdrenalineJunkieProd 5 лет назад
The Knary Agency, hey! Glad you liked the video. In regards to the beadlocks. You need to diagnose why. The bolts should not be loosening. If they are there is an underlying problem. Generally the most common way beadlocks are damaged is when people over tighten the bolts securing the beadlock ring. Once you damage those threads there isn’t much you can really do. It isn’t unusual that with time some of the bolts may loosen a bit but it shouldn’t be a ongoing and frequent issue. Will a thread locking agent fix the issue? Possibly. But it won’t “fix” it, it will mask it. If you use a medium strength locking agent (blue) then as long as the threads aren’t too bad it could prevent them from loosening out but it may lead to issues down the line trying to remove them. However, if you want to get another season out of your wheels then ya, that might be a solution. The truth is you shouldn’t need to use a locking agent. If you do then there is something wrong with the fasteners/threads. It all depends on what your comfortable with doing. You could even use red permanent locking agent if you just want to get one more use out of the wheels. Like if you got new tires and just wanted to mount them and accept that when you damage a rim/tire or wear them out you will need to replace the rims. Why people run into this is because it’s easy to over tighten the small bolts. Usually the bolts are stainless and the rims are a soft aluminum so it’s easy to chew up the threads with the harder bolts. Hope that offers some insight.

The Knary Agency I would contact the wheel company and ask them if they have experienced this issue in the past and what they have done to remedy it. You could try using green thread locker and seeing if that keeps them in place. It’s basically an anti vibration formula made for smaller fasteners. It shouldn’t be too hard to get them out later when you need to disassemble. I’d try that before I used blue thread locker. Might be all you need.

Hey, do you have a trick to separate the primary to replace the one way bearings?
@AdrenalineJunkieProd
@AdrenalineJunkieProd 2 года назад
You need a special socket from the dealer or a speciality tool supplier. Then you need a clutch holding tool that you clamp in a vice. It locks into the cooling veins on the back of the clutch to hold it from moving and distribute the load because the nut is toques around 300ft/lbs. You can make your own clutch holding fixture out of wood or metal if you are handy. The slider socket should be purchased.

You forgot the Teflon Tape on the threads. Pre filter the air going into the clutch housing and you will not have clutch problems you should not be seeing dust dirt falling out when you run the impact.

When you put the clutch back on what are you do just push it on there and then tighten it down or the original Bolt
@AdrenalineJunkieProd
@AdrenalineJunkieProd 4 года назад
Yup. Just put it on straight and then snug it up before torquing it down. It's a tapered shaft so it will sell position itself once you start tightening it up.

@AdrenalineJunkieProd
@AdrenalineJunkieProd 5 лет назад
Hey, your puller broke! That sucks. It should not be easy to break the puller, I'm surprised it broke. Did it break flush in the primary clutch? How many threads are engaged? When you say it broke at the first thread what do you mean? If you can provide more details maybe I can try to offer some input. I've heard of and personally seen the tips of the puller bend from the clutch being on really tight, but haven't seen one break. When you say the first thread are you saying the puller itself sheared where the first thread is? That would arguably be a weak spot on the puller, however, if it is made out of the correct material a puller of that diameter should not break easily. Is is a cheap E-Bay/no name Chinese puller or a unit from a reputable company? It sounds like a material failure. The puller should be manufactured out of a hardened tool steel.

Make sure you impact gun is strong. Make sure there is enough grease in there. Once you have the puller to the point it won’t go anymore try hitting the puller on the sides with a hammer. Don’t go crazy but give. A few good whacks. Back it out and try again. Some people say if it’s really hard it sometimes helps to drive the machine and get the clutches nice and hot and then try. Sometimes they can be really on there good.

Just about any liquid will work. Like you said, water is hard to get to stay in there unless you lean it. That's why I used grease and oil this time.

Jim Mace the magic of hydraulic pressure! I’ve heard a lot of the cheap off brand pullers have issues. They are made out of poor quality materials and cannot take the strain of being torqued. They look like the name brand units but that’s about it. Sometimes you just get what you pay for.
