Just fished my power drill out of the recycling bin before the truck came (after trying different things for a week to open the chuck), followed your advice and - boom! - drill bit out in seconds with light tapping and drill works, there's nothing wrong with the chuck after all. Thanks for saving me the time and money of shopping for and buying a new power drill!
You wonderful man!! Middle aged Brit woman here, who isn’t great at DIY at the best of times but I do my best. I was having to use the same drill bit for every job because I couldn’t get the bloody thing out of the drill. Trying to drill into masonry today and getting nowhere. Then I found your video … and it’s out!! Thank you so much ❤🇬🇧🇺🇸👍
Been trying for years to free a stuck keyless chuck on an old craftsman drill/driver got from my late dad. Pulled it out again to try once again. After another hour of frustration, watched this video. Tapped the top of the chuck a few times as you demonstrated & it freed . Wow. Thanks
Thanks! I didn’t think my drill bit was “stuck”-BUT a few light taps with a hammer and ta-da! I was able to change the drill bit and finish the job. I appreciate the tip!
Thank you, same as Elizabeth Percy, at the end of the day putting garden bench set together and taking skin of knuckles, this was the last thing I needed, worked after two sessions of tapping. THANKS x
Actually helped me out of a jam. My Ryobi had a stuck chuck along with stuck bit. Took all my grip strength (thanks workouts) and lots of cranking to finally get it to go. Fun fact, my Grandpa's old plug in Craftsman has never had a problem of any type, much less a stuck bit or chuck. Dont make em like they used to.
You saved me! ❤️ I had TWO Ryobi drills with stuck drill bits. Being a girl, I cried! I live on a farm, I have weekly projects, and a “Honey Do” list from Heck. So happy right now!
Brilliant, thanks very much for sharing this. Your tip about simply tapping the bit was golden, drill bit released on first go. I had been twisting the bloody chuck for ages previously trying to free it up. Massive thanks.
Thank you for the valuable information!! I just got out a very stubborn blade sharpening drill bit that I couldn’t release in months using your techniques!!!
Thank you so much!!!😁 My drill bit was stuck really stuck!! And I obviously couldn't figure out how to get it out...and watching your video and taking your advice and/or fallowing your directions worked perfectly!!! So I'm very grateful!! Thank you for creating and sharing this video!! 😊
Thank you so much! Our chuck was stuck at work and I watched over 10 videos on how to get it unstuck and couldn’t! And then I find your video and method two helped me get it unstuck right away!
Thank you. I just purchased cheap wireless drill with hammer option, for home usage only, and I finished those 4 holes , and I was planning tu put it back to the box for storage, and... Than , your advices in the and , gave me relief 😀 Thank you.
Thank you so much!!!! I had a 1 1/2" Forstner Drill bit stuck in my drill. I'd been trying to get it out, and had started hurting my hand. Tapping it totally worked!!! I'd never had a bit stuck like that before. Thank you SOOOO much!
THANK YOU!!!! I have watched Soo many videos on how to remove a stuck drill bit in the chuck with no success. I got it out in a matter of 15 seconds with your video. Thank you thank you thank you.
It works , both my drills Were stuck I did exactly what he said , granted it took afew taps since my were really stuck . But I got both of them unlocked . Thank you !
I love you! I even went to the hardware store trying to see if they could help - but nothing. Then I found your video, and BOOM - problem fixed, and with only a few taps! Thank you!
It was jammed so tight we could not get our bit out at all by hand. I watched this video and tapped it with a small wrench. The bit came out no problem. Thank you from a guy who doesn’t know what he’s doing!
Thank you so much, this is the second drill I've gotten stuck, worked at it for an hour, watched your video unstuck in two minutes :) :) Digging out the old stuck drill tomorrow and see if it works on that one :) You're a life saver, I have so many projects to get done, can't afford to buy another drill, thank you thank you and thank you again !!!!!
Thanks a lot. your video helped me to remove the stuck drill bit from my drill. It was there for ages and now I was desperate to fix the issue. I tried couple times while watching your video and it's done. SUCCESS!!
After going through three or more videos found this one. It worked for me! My Ryobi drill check was really locked in The drill bit I ended up using a pipe wrench and a vice. I added WD-40 previously. I tapped turned then backed off tapped tried to turn again backed off. Since it was a pipe wrench I wanted to apply pressure gradually but to my surprise it was able to break free. Thought I was going to tear the drill apart :-) but it worked!
I found this out by accident. My phillips screwdriver bit was stuck, and I couldn't unstick it. Neither could my husband. So I went online, and people suggested using vice grips, which I don't have, strap wrenches, which I don't have, oils that I don't have. I'm frustrated, because now I'm going to have to spend money just to get a drill bit out of the drill. My daughter, joking around, suggested I tap it with the butt of a butter knife, like when I open a jar lid for the first time. Going along with the joke, I tapped it with a butter knife four or five times, and voila...it looseded right up like, well, like butter. Amazing! Made my day!
Wow! Very helpful - the vice recommendation fixed my stuck chuck in just 1/4 of a turn! This is the most helpful video I found on fixing a stuck drill bit, but I almost bounced after the first second when that godawful howl assaulted my ears. Glad I managed to keep listening (even though my ears are still ringing.)
Oh wow bro. Brilliant. Me and my father in law were battleing to get this drill unstuck for 2 days. I was watched your now and I just followed your steps with a pair of vice pliers and I got it unstuck. Thank you very much. 😁👍
it does ur head in when this happens!...and this is the first vid that acctually explains why the drill bits stuck...( in the teeth) cheers mate :) thumbs up from ur UK fan
Thank you. The solution seemed so simple after you said it, but I’ll be damned if I hadn’t exhausted every possibility I could conceive and wasted twenty minutes struggling, before I found this.
I owe you a beverage of your choice! Light tap, tap, tap of the wrench and it loosened right up! Good sir, you are what RU-vid is all about! Thank you!
