My 2018 VW Tiguan is in the workshop and tomorrow the mechanics are due to replace the water pump. (Not being a mechanical type, I wouldn't dare try this work, but your great video has shown me what has to be done, so I hope the guys doing the work are as good as you).
Man once again this video is absolutely amazing. I'm doing this job right now step by step following your steps. Thank you so much. No way could I have done this without this video. Great job
Superb video! I was having difficulty removing the intake manifold, and didn't realize until watching the video that I had missed several nuts below below the manifold.
Great video! Exactly the same problem I have on a 2012 VW CC Sport. It's a bit harder, but I was able to do this job without taking the intake manifold off. The hardest part about that was cleaning the surfaces on the engine to get a good gasket seal. Thanks for the tip about the bolt on the belt gear being left threads. One thing about removing the injectors, is that you're supposed to put new seals on them when reinstalling. Replacing injector seals require a special tool and you install them in the engine first, which makes it easy to connect the wiring before you install the manifold. Also with the injectors in place the compression will hold the engine so you can undo the bolt on the belt gear.
An excellent video have 2013 EOS and this video was exactly correct step by step. Understand why last person didn't put back the missing support bracket. As it probably the most challenging thing to get removed. It just takes a little patience. But you do need a special 10mm star for the lower bolt. While you're replacing pump, make sure to clean you intake valve chambers.
@KIT'S Auto Thanks so much for this well documented and thorough walkthrough ! Saving the wife, newborn, and me $1,500 from PepBoys! Chapmen VW Dealer didn't even have the courtesy to return my 2 calls for parts and labor, pathetic! Plus I got a quality cast aluminum Dorman part for $200! Four questions please. 1) What/How to clean the injectors? 2) Rub. Alcohol ok to clean gasket mating surfaces? 3) Vasolean ok as lube for good gasket seal? 4) Is my 2017 Tiguan 2.0 TSI even diff than 2016 (I haven't noticed)?
@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair I got it all done and it all went great. Have you ever experienced a sound change from inside the car after changing water pump? It’s a deep humming sound. Only thing I can think of is the pump is actually working the way it should!?
@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair I tried. I know it has left handed threads so going clockwise I know I was going in the loosen direction. As I was turning the bolt it felt like the motor was turning over. I watched fly wheel and it wasn’t turning. I tried hold gear and I could hold it tight enough to loosen bolt. You got me thinking that I possibly did have it loosened a bit. Lol. I might take it back apart just to double check it. It would be worth the time to do so. Like you said it took allot of finesse to get pump in with trying to line everything up and put belt on at same time. Belt was tight. Zero slop.
Fantastic Job. God bless you for sharing your knowledge. I just ordered my water pump (10/9/21). As soon I receive it and I will install it, I will share the results, that if God willing, should be the same that yours. Thank you.
Very nice step-by-step guide to this repair. The camera angles and lighting are very good, and the sound and voice accompaniment are clear. How long did this repair take compared to the length of this video? Thank you for taking the time to make these videos.
Thank you very much for this video! It helped me very much! I would not have been able to switch the pump without your help! Question, When placing my intake manifold, some of the bolt just started to spin. I removed the bolts and didnt see any stripped thread from the bolts or the coils on the aluminum body. When I removed the manifold the bolts tighten on the engine body. Any suggestions?
Thank you very much for the video. I also have the same issue of leaking coolant on my 2010 Audi A3 1.8 TFSI CDA engine I see it looks the same. My question is you'd you prefer to only replaced the O-ring if the problem is the O-ring or its better to also replace the water pump with the O-ring ? 😁
I hope you see this and reply. What size torx head is the bottom part of that bracket? The one that was missing from you video. There is a nut and a torx screw. Do you know the size?
your video saved me about $2000 (in australia) 17:30 saved me from ripping my intake in half too trying to muscle it out! hopefully you can get a beer with the exchange rate. cheers!
Alright mate. Great video 👍 I was wondering if you could help me. I have a Tiguan same engine. I'm having issues were the water from the expansion tank gets sucked into the engine and the coolant warning comes on. When I then try to fill it and open the expansion tank. The water will flow back into the tank and no longer needs topped up. Then I drive again and the water will go back down and trigger the warning again. Im not loosing any coolant and don't see any leaking and so far the engine still stays cool and has not over heated. Do you think a new water pump would fix this or could it be something else. Any help would be great I'm pulling my hair out. For all I have left
@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair thanks for the reply. The coolant drops completely into the engine. When I remove the cap it all comes back. I've also notice small fizzy like bubbles coming up when the car is in idle. I had assumed an air leak so let the car run with the cap off and notices the fizz. I think the fizzy bubbles are filling up the tank causing pressure to push the water down. I've got my suspicion on maybe a head gasket, so not good news so far. I've got it booked in to get the dealer to look at it. All I hear is money now lol
Hello there brother! I just bought a tiguan 2011 2.0 TSi a couple of months ago and first time to have a VW. It was such a fantastic car to drive. I’ve been watching VW tiguan videos and yours is a very helpful guide for DIYer like me. So far I don’t have a problem with cooling system until this day my dash shows a warning message “coolant check” and temp gauge sign was blinking though the needle in the temp gauge stayed in the middle and I know engine temp is still good. Once I arrive at home and checked the coolant level is below the min mark. Checked any signs of leak under the car but no signs of any coolant leak. Tried opening the cap of expansion tank slowly and when air escapes the level of coolant goes up to max level again. It seems there’s air in the system. Do you have any idea why this occurs. I topped up the coolant a bit past the max level just to make sure it won’t go below the min mark. Thank you very much for sharing this video and once my car will have a water pump failure or any intake manifold problem I know now how to do it by myself. Did you use any triple square bits for removing any bolts? I only have torx bits and the usual Philips and hex bit set. Thank again bro
Chrispolo Batangueño My Pleasure!! it sounds like you don't have a problem! were you using the heat in the car before the coolant level dropped a bit? since you topped it off, keep an eye on it and see what happens!! and yes I did use some triple square bits to remove the intake bolts!
@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair thank you very much for your reply. You’re right I started using heater again cause we are going into the colder months now. Cheers brother
For anyone doing this job, here are the parts I ended up replacing on my 2012 VW CC Sport: 1 - 06H121026DR - Engine Water Pump Assembly. 1 - 06H121131C - Joint. Water pump ASSEMBLY union. - union joint on left side of water pump housing 2 - 4E0121666 - Seal. Hose. Ring. (Rear, Upper, Lower) - for hose connectors to water pump. 2 - N90765301 - Seal. Ring. Hose. Coupling. Pipe. (Front, Rear, Upper, Lower) - I replaced the top seal on the radiator, even though you don't have to take that apart. 1 - WHT006407 - Seal. Pipe. Ring. Tube. (Rear) - O-ring for the leaking pipe. PS! This said it doesn't fit my car on dealer's website! One tip for getting these parts is to search your dealer's parts website, instead of calling them. When calling them I only get quoted the retail price for all the parts, but the website has huge discounts and gives you another 20% off for using genuine VW parts. I choose local pickup at the dealer and the parts have been ready in a couple of hours for pickup.
My son is doing this on a 2010 Tiguan. Does anyone know the bolt pattern for the five water pump bolts ? He never arranged them in order and has forgotten how they go back. Pls comment if anyone knows. Thanks
How the heck do I lift the manifold off? It seem stuck at the bottom at the aluminium bracket that you mentioned is missing. I did take the nut off, does it just wiggle or pop off?
@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair Thanks mate, super helpful video. got the bracket off. Did everything and reassembled it. Then tested it for leaks, I added a bit of coolant and the bridge connector between the oil cooler and water pump leaked because the new rubber o ring moved of its place when I installed it. Now I have to reassemble it again. Do you recommend using the drained coolant again? If not how do I dispose of it? Final thing, when I lifted the intake manifold off a few drops of fuel splashed onto the spot where the oil filter is. Do I have to drain the oil now or would it be okay? It was literally a couple of drops.
IS THE HOSE THAT CONNECT TO THE 2 ENDS ON WATER PUMP SPECIFIC?.... I PURCHASE NEW ALUMINUM TYPE WATER PUMP AND MY TIGUAN IS STILL OVERHEATING..COOLANT IS BOILING IN MY BOTTLE....WONDERING NOW IF I HAVE BLOWN HEADGASKET 🤔
Yes sir...we replaced thermostat with original oe vw thermostat today as the one that came with new pump was defective ...no leakage detected, however when I drive for some time I get msg "oil pressure engine off" and the coolant is boiling in my bottle...when I stop and leave the vehicle idle the coolant falls but as soon as I drive it starts to boil again...thinking of checking the head gasket
Replaced my water pump on my Tiguan 2.0 tsi, started the car the check engine light was on,i was driving it in that day, second day started the engine and begin to lose power and the engine shut off, since then i can't start my car is jut cranking, what can be the issue?
