Dealership wanted $750 to install a new mirror. Thanks to you, I was able to do it myself for less than $250 and under 30 minutes. This video made all the difference in the world. And now my wife thinks I'm a genius too. :- )
@@jpduncan5565 Thanks! Glad to hear the color-matched perfectly with your mirror. And, thank you for letting us know this video helped. Always great to hear feedback from our customers, and we'd say you ARE a genius for only taking 30 minutes your first time! Kudos to you :)
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I was able to do this myself (61 yo female) in about 60 minutes. Kept referring back to the video to be sure/safe. And I didn’t have but a crescent wrench and screwdrivers. Much appreciated!!
Thank you so much for this, first Autozone played me charged me hella extra Then its the wrong color and then told me I need my own mechanic. RU-vid is the mechanic 💪🏾💪🏾
A GIANT thanks to everyone for watching our video. We do it because we like to help. Where to Purchase: bit.ly/AltimaSVM If you need any other painted auto parts, visit us here : www.revemoto.com
My local Nissan dealership wanted about $780 give or take to replace my passenger side window. I ordered one off Walmart did it myself only cost me about 48 bucks I am really grateful to you for showing me how it’s done
great video. I just damaged my Pathfinder 2018 passenger side mirror (hitting the garage door). the dealer asked for around $600 to install and calibrate the sensor(blind spot). now I can do it and save big. thanks .
2014 Altima here. Walked out of the doctor's office and the plastic cover was gone. My wife found a replacement assembly, I found your video and here I am, sitting on the couch again. Only suggestion, when replacing the big panel, first align it next to the window track and work downward. Easier for me. Thanks.
Thanks for the video...I'll give it a try. It worked just fine. It was easier for me to pry the piece behind the handle from the left. Thanks...great video.
Thanks for this video. My mirror was recently broken. Question: Where is the best place to order a matching colored replacement mirror from without going through Nissan?
Kai Oden Sorry to hear about your mirror. The best place to get a brand new mirror would from us, already painted. There is a link at the very top of the description or visit www.ReveMoto.com. Take care!
I like your video very much and will speak to my brother-in-law about acting as my "foreman" on fixing my mirror on the driver side. The question I have is that I viewed a video that showed them being able to change out the mirror without having to remove the indoor panel. What could be the problems or pitfalls of doing it this way? Thanks in advance for your answer.
Hi Paul, thanks for the feedback! Glad you liked our video. Just want to double check, on the other video you saw, was it for the newer model 2013-2018 Nissan Altima? For the older models, you can get away with just taking off that corner cap piece (the piece we take off after removing the door panel) since the plug is immediately visible. However, from our experience with the newer models, as you'll see in the video, the plug actually sits a little lower near the edge of the door, so we found it easier to remove the door panel to prevent from trying to squeeze our hands through to get to the plug. Hope that helps!
If my car doesn’t have the turn signals on it’s mirrors can I buy some mirrors that do have the turn signals on them and just plug them in and they’ll work
Yes and no. You have a 50/50 chance on it working. Your car has to support the function. Sometimes manufactures make every car with the capability but you you have to purchase the mirror for it to work. Or, your vehicle may not support the signal function and you could be stuck with dysfunctional mirror. I would compare the pins on your current mirror and one with a turn signal. Just to make sure they have the same plugs. You have a 50/50 shot, maybe ask a friend or colleague that has a turn signal mirror and plug it into your car. Check the Nissan forums for answers, those guys usually know it all. I believe the Maxima mirrors are compatible with all models but I am not sure on the Altima's. We always recommend sticking with the mirror you VIN corresponds too. Let us know if you try it, good luck!
Hey I just got done installing these and it works only problem is the signal lights don’t work.. idk if my car doesn’t allow it or what but I have a Nissan Altima 2016
I would start by looking at the pins on the plug and match them up. If there is an an extra pin, then it's probably bc the car doesn't support the signal feature. It could also be a faulty turn signal, it's rare but it happens. You can also check your fuses. Please let us know if that works out. Thank you for watching!
You could’ve save a lot of time and effort by prying open the corner of the side door panel where the side mirror is and replace the side mirror without taking the whole door panel off..
Came here to learn how to do this by myself since I am a girl and don’t know what the heck I was doing, stayed here because the guy is cute. Thumbs up 😌
Hi Gena! They should be similar. Sometimes, depending on the model, you don't have to take off the entire door panel, but we usually find it easier to do so. Good luck!
I like that look very simple now a question how to add the turning signal wire Trying to install new mirror with signal lamp Coming from non signal lamp
Hi Alex, you'll definitely need to change out the wiring, and we haven't actually done it in-house. So, unfortunately, we don't have a video to help you with that. Sorry about that. But, let us know how it works out when you do!
Very helpful video thank you. I have Nissan Altima 2017 SR . But I have question regarding the door light in the bottom, I have wires but not light, I did put a light but it doesn’t light, do you any hint how to connect it? Thanks
Are you referring to the bottom door light? If you have a plug for and install a light, it should work. I would check the bulb or the wires to see if anything is amiss. You may also want to check your fuse box and make sure everything is plugged in correctly. Good luck!
Hello! Most mirrors will use smaller bolts that range from 8mm-10mm. Most Japanese cars will be even numbers and American cars are sometimes odd numbers.
Did they change it on the 2018? I know small changes get made over the years but we'll definitely update the description for the 2018 models. Thanks for the head up! ✌
So I got power mirrors. If I install the mirrors with turn signals will they work are will additional wires have to be ran. I have an 18 SL without signal just power adjust
Hello! I want to say that the mirrors will probably work. I think with Nissan, you just have to buy the mirror. If you have the mirrors plug them in to see if it works, that's the best way. If they do not, check the pins and wires. There is a way to splice it but we do not know how to do that. Thanks for watching!
I need help please. I don’t need the whole passenger side window. The plastic light cover covering the light bulb is the only part I need. Do you know where I can get that?
Hello. I think your referring to the turn signal. That is not sold anywhere at all but I would try the dealership. I doubt they sell it but I would start there. If they do not, I would buy a used broken mirror at a junk yard and take the part you need. Thanks for watching!
Normally, no. It depends if the connector has a space for the pin. Even then, it may work but probably won't. I know that's vague but you would just have to try it out. Most of the time it does not function or it could but may cause another feature to not work. For example, the turn signal may work when you install it but the power function to adjust your mirror may not work.
Not yet! I wish we did. The process should be the same though. The screws will be in a slightly different place but the overall concept is the same. Remove the screws, pop the panel, unbolt the mirror and work backwards. Good luck!
Hello. The bolts/nuts for the door and mirror are probably going to be a size 8 socket. This was one of our first videos that we re-uploaded, so it's hard to recall accurately. Generally, you wouldn't go any higher than a size 10 socket on door panel or side view mirror. As far as the skull cap goes, its pretty hard to remove. You can purchase a plastic trim removal tool (pretty affordable on Amazon) or use something similar. Carefully pry the cap off so the tabs do not break. You'd be surprised how fragile they can be. Let us know if this helps, thank you!
Not exactly same but should be nearly same. All Nissan's will pretty much have the same design. The screws for the door panel, if you have to remove the door panel may be in slightly different places. The engineering is still the same, 3 bolts and the electrical wire to unplug. Please let us know if you have more questions. Good luck!
Hello and it should be similar. The bolt size was an 8mm, I believe. Try and use a plastic trim tool to remove the panel or just wrap a flat-head screwdriver with a small cloth. You want be careful not to damage the plastic panels. Thank you for watching!
Or you can just pry the side of the panel under the mirror with a panel remover and the mirror panel will come out and expose the three screws.. No guarantees. Worked in 10 secs for me
Hello and sorry to hear that. Nissan's typically have 8-10mm bolts for the side view mirror. I don't recall exactly but it's probably a 10mm. Please check our our website and chat with us if you have any questions.
YES, it would be the same install. An extra feature would only have an extra pin in the plug for it or a 2 plugs for the electrical wire. The mirror did not include blind spot monitoring. Blind spot monitoring and auto-dimming tend to be features only the dealership will sell. I hope this helps!
Thanks someone side swiped me and drove off the dealer wanted to charge me $400 in parts and probably more in labor I bought it at a junk yard did it myself
Hello and no. We sell the mirrors from our online shop. Please visit there and and feel free to chat with us if you have an questions! bit.ly/AltimaSVM
Hello. Blind spot sensor option usually are only sold by the dealership. Typically, no calibration is needed because the sensor uses radar waves that only shoot out at one wavelength. I hope this helps!
Hey Joshua! It is extremely similar. So much so, that it's practically the "almost" the same. Every car has a 3-4 bolt pattern that holds on the side view mirror. I think for most Nissans, you do have to remove the door panel. Even if you had an Acura that with a door panel you had to remove, it's the same process. The screws would probably be in a different place is all. I hope this helps!!
I believe they were a size 8mm on the door panel and a size 10mm on the side view mirror. Any standard socket wrench set should have the right sockets size. Thank you for watching!
Hi Jeffery, we can't say with 100% confidence since we haven't tried with this model, but pretty sure it won't work. We've had some customers get a full featured mirror (auto-dimming, signal light, power) changed to a basic mirror (with just signal light) and have it work, but haven't had someone do it the other way around. Sorry we can't be of more help!
@@ReveMoto I'm pretty much just guessing on the wiring harness.sometimes its just cheaper to use a one size fits everything harness o just a couple of variations.low or high
@@davidmckay9552 If you were an electrician or know one, they could probably wire up a fix. I haven't seen universal plug or wire harness but that could probably work. Sometimes manufactures wire harness has the option features for signal, etc.. but they don't include the pin for it on the plug. Electrical issues are usually a headache....🖖
@@ReveMoto hey man, so I have the stock mirrors with no turn lights on... I'm thinking of purchasing the ones with the turn signal on them and adding them. Are you telling me the turn signal won't work? www.1aauto.com/2013-16-nissan-altima-mirror-set/i/1amrp01279?f=843910&y=2013
Hello Ramdeen. I believe the removal/install is similar. I am not sure if the electrical cord is behind the door panel or right next to the mirror. All mirrors roughly have the same design. Three bolts hold the mirror on, attached to an electrical cord. Good luck!
Once you get all 4 screws off, you just have to pull the panel out on the bottom and push it up by the window. It's not too bad. Good luck and thank you for watching!
Hello! Yes, this is the same for a 2012 Altima. Most side view mirrors are essentially the same. They are held on by 3 bolts (sometimes 4) and the electrical plug. Some cars you have to remove the door panel and other you don't have too. The removal process follows the same steps and processes. On Japanese cars, the bolts will usually be an 8mm, 10mm or 12mm (usually even #'s). American cars/trucks will be a mix of odd and even #'s for bolts and screws. I hope this helps!
Hello and yes, you can replace the glass only. You would have to gently pop the glass off. It is held on by plastic clips in the center of the glass. If your mirror is heated, it will have a couple connectors as well. We also recommend buying just the glass from the dealership. They are usually the only ones that sell it. Cheers!
This should be: How to scratch a door panel with a screwdriver. Use a plastic trim removal tool not a screwdriver like this video instructs, at least if you like having interior door panels without screwdriver scratches and pry marks.
We have faith in you! It's a lot easier than it looks. Ask a friend or relative to help you out. It is easier going to a body shop but they will charge for at least 2hrs labor, ranging from $40-60 an hr. GOOD LUCK!
Taylor Benning all you have to do is pop the upper part. the little black box on the side of the windows it comes off you don’t need to take the whole damn panel off lmfao
I have a 2015 Nissan Altima, my BOYFRIEND hit something and broke the mirror. This video is the bomb! I bought a new mirror and replaced it in about 25 minutes. My only warning; be careful when removing the trim by the door handle. The little latches used to hold it on are so tiny and fragile I accidentally broke them off trying to pry off the trim; nothing a little glue couldn't fix. Thanks for the video. Oh and by the way, popping off the door panel was nothing, it came off exactly as it shows in the video
Hello Dawort. Sorry for the late reply. I had my products team go in and check the pricing for the mirrors and it was lowered. We have a lot of products and we don't always get to update the price in time. Have a great day!
