I do something similar with a bottle of Chemical Guys Ecosmart that I keep in the boot. It has the same kind of technology of the ONR (lifts the crap off the paint). Just spray it on and let it soak and wipe off with a microfibre. Keep repeating if it doesn't come off the first time

I use wet wipes let them sit on the bird poo and it breaks the poo down and then wipe away without any damage. I love your videos keep up the good work 👍

I use Maguiar's bug and tar removal foam, leave it to dwell on it for a minute or so, it hydrates up the turd and then remove using the water laden sponge that you suggested. Then a QD and microfibre just to tidy up.

Always, always keep your car with sealant. If you do, all you have to do is put lots of water until the crap gets soft then just press a wet microfiber and keep turning it until all the rough elements are gone. Then use a detailer to clean the rest.

I usually use UWW+ and just soak it and let it sit. Really like the idea of covering it with a sponge. Q: Wont polish cut through a ceramic coating? Q: Does bird crap etch on ceramics (lets say if caught in less than 12hrs)?

Very light etching can be removed with a couple passes of the hair dryer and an IPA wipe or something like Carpro eraser/Gyeon Prep

I keep a small spray bottle of ONR in the boot with a deep pile microfibre for bird shit patrols. Similar method, spray on the offending article and the microfibre and gentle wipe off. Like the idea of putting a wet sponge over dried examples. Will give that a try next time. 👍

I keep a medium size (~750mL) spray bottle of distilled water in the trunk just for bird crap emergencies. I use the spray jet to literally blast the bird bomb off the paint. I soak the affected area liberally to dilute and neutralize any remaining acid. You want to spray in the most sensible direction, i.e. the one that creates the shortest flow path off the paint. This method buys me peace of mind and time to get home from work and do a spot or full rinseless wash.

as always John, very good detailed video. I went out this morning and removed said offending birdmess but did it with a BH auto foam mix in a spray bottle. soaked a mf cloth and placed it on it and the poo peeled off after 5 mins..👍cheers bud

Good video, but could you give me some feedback how I do it? What I do as soonas I see (and a coin wash is nearby) I jet wash the car down with gloss dryer (the final step which contains softened water). Most of the times this is sufficient and you don't need to worry about water spots.

i'm on shit patrol daily lol yes I know sad,a tip i've used for years when I find dried on poops I get some kitchen roll fold it up pour hot water over it place it on top of the poop for 5 minutes it breaks it down with no rubbing needed then it's a case of using a microfibre cloth to remove the excess ,then re-apply a wax after...

If the shit is on a flat surface I tend to sit a sudded wet sponge on it until it softens it then jet wash it off. If I’m out and about I carry some bird neutralise spray....sad I know, but I’ve seen the damage it can cause first hand.

Interesting viewing Jon! Got a few laughs out me with the pink panther scenes 😂 As you know I have ONR but never thought to try it for bird shit. I don't like using any sort of agitation so my typical routine is to grab my autoglanz bug off and a spare sprayer with a stream spray setting. Soak the shit in bug off and go fill the other sprayer up with warm water. After a few mins I just blast it with the warm water using the stream nozzle. Breaks the bird crap up easily and if any stubborn bits remain just repeat. Usually only takes a few mins at most then the remaining water I just pour over the area to rinse the shit away. Works well for me but I will definitely switch the bug off with the ONR mix and see how it performs.

I do use quick detailer or a spray bottle of my regular car wash diluted ready to use & a microfibre but use it in the the same way you do onr let it soak the a single quick wipe over with no pressure works just as well all depends how careful you are I think hand as keep a bottle in the boot along with some clean microfibre cloths in a zip lock bag to keep them clean,your method probably safer for just anyone to do

I bought a handheld pump sprayer with a jet nozzle. Fill it with distilled water and it usually blows the bird crap off without having to touch the paint...even the dry stuff.

can't we use any kinda apc?? like in its diluted state to soak in the bird droppings. most of the time, I use d114 in its 128:1 dilution. I spray on bird poop and soak it in with wet mf cloth. most of them get removed usually. but some are so hardly bonded that I sometimes use cg citrus + apc 10:1 for soaking. is it safe @forensic detailing??

Hi. Is ONR suitable for matte paints? And as you know matte paint can’t be polished so how would you tackle bird crap that has dried on to matte paint for say a day or two? Thanks for your help

Checked me car and had some marks that didn’t even look like bird crap , quite a few small ones over the bonnet , looked more like rain water spots but obviously not as some was too big , cleaned them but they etched the clear coat , done a quick hand polish for now , improvement but not perfect , need to polish it properly after washing it , watched a video and apparently a heat gun or hair dryer can work to remove etching

John I've seen on your channel all sorts of great info and how-to's there's one thing I need to do on my car, but wonder if you have ever done a correction on a windscreen? My windscreen has major traces in it, at night when lights hit it the hologram/bleed is almost from the top to the bottom of the screen. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well I simple use the APC from ValetPro 1-16 and using 800-1200gsm microfiber towel. never did a single scratch with it and never had to wait more than 3 minutes to clean.

I quickly soak with ONR or Ecosmart (ONR seems more effective) and then gently use my nail to carefully pull/scrape it off the surface, I'm careful to not run my nail on the car only the crap! Gross I know, but you can't say I'm not dedicated to maintaining my clear coat

Hi, does anyone know if the ONR is safe on say ceramic coated/PPF vehicles? I’m having issues at work with bird droppings on my car so need a easy solution as don’t have access to hose. I was using the poorboys stuff but it ends up getting expensive after awhile . Or could I use something like Koch chemie green stuff diluted? If so any recommendations on dilution ratio? Thanks

When I first started watching your videos a short while ago, I couldn't get over how long they were. I would think, how can someone talk for three quarters of an hour about a one bucket wash method? But they are addictive! Addictive to the point that not only do I watch a video about the one bucket wash method once, but I have watched it twice. At least twice! This bird crap video is short at about 15 minutes, I was almost disappointed it was so short. You ought to be a politician. Politics would be a lot more fun, I would probably even subscribe! Brilliant stuff!

its like a dileama.. the thing is.. a u tube video should be like 5-10 mins.. people zone out after 5mins etc.. so stats say successful channels do very short videos.. fast flash editing.. any info you need to get across, do it very quickly.. keep the dialogues short etc... this "thing" isnt about money (u tube doesnt make money unless you have 100k subs etc even then its shitty).. It isnt about fame because a its a tiny channel for a tiny niche detailing "thing".. It isnt about trying to show the word Im the best detailing (im not, im sloppy, slow and miss things).. Isnt about being the best channel on detailing (you have like ammo and autogeeks to name a few that have much better productions and better quality info)... So yer for some reason even with these long crappy productions the channel has grown and is growing... Its like Matt says in obsessed garage.. people look at what your doing and feedback to you... but at the end of the day this is just you tube and all you can do is be yourself and throw it out there.. And if people like it, then you just keeping rolling along, or you jack it in... Its a hobby for me.. I enjoy the scene and topic and making the videos and meeting people etc.. I like putting the content out there... Im not overfussed on the quality (although I am trying to improve it).. Its purley for selfish reasons I do this.. EG I get a lot of enjoyment from the channel.. Its great to hear that you are like the content even though its got its flaws.. i think thats more to do with your passion for detailing to be honest. the WORST thing is.. the bigger the channel gets the less in touch you are with the viewers.. when I had a few subs, I would love reading the comment and talking and making connections.. Now though its at the tipping stage where I cant keep up with the comments.. so lots you miss, or you cant say thank you for people watching and commenting.. you cant communicate individually as much.. And you dont appreciate comments as much because you cant manage them.. thats one thing I dont like.

I can see the outline of where the bird poop was for a. couple days. Thought it was going to be fine since it was only a day or two before I washed the car. Hit it with some soap and pressure washer but now I still see the outline. Tried taking some rinseless detailing spray after and that didn't do much. Wondering should I hit it with the clay bar first before I polish it or just polish it? Anyone got any advice pls chime in thanks

An RAC man told me this. If you are unlucky to find Bird S**t on your car's paint work, boil a kettle of water leave it for about five or so minutes, grab a roll of kitchen paper. place a sheet of paper on the poop pour on the water and leave it a couple of minutes. if it's a stubborn spot another piece of paper repeat with water. Then wipe off no need for polishing. NEVER USE BOILING WATER STRAIGHT ONTO THE PAINT WORK, the heat can lift the lacquer from the paint. Don't park under tree's.

Are you telling me if I use an old sponge from the kitchen soak it with water i will not get the exact result. Well i did, and I did. I had several spots of three days old caked bird poo. It all lifted after being soaked with water.

Get a plastic water bottle and cut it into square. Use that after spraying windex or household cleaning spray bottle or whatever, and scrap out the 🐦 💩. You'll get good results. If you worry too much birdpoops, try to use plastic wrap instead of car paint. Keep in mind, that never park your car under the bridges or trees. Thats where those bird poops always. I did mistakenly parked under bridge, 80% 🐦💩 covered in my car. Its a lot of work.

hey Jon... John here from LongIsland NY@Carefree Auto Detailing... Look up the Lake country grout sponge it's 5.99 us on autotopia it's the same as BRS... I have both and I believe they are exactly the same material. The BRS is slightly larger but 19.99 us compared to 5.99 us its a no brainier. And I order new ones when there is a 20% off coupon. here is what i always do. i have this empty spraybottle with water in my car together with tissuepaper. when i spot a dried out shit i just the the paper there and spray, then leave it for an hour or so. lift the toiletpaper and spray the soaked shit with your spraybottle all the wat open. no need to rub it or anything

If I’m in a hurry and there’s dry bird shit on the car, I’ll run a microfibre cloth under the hot tap then fold it and place it on top of it, wait 5 mins and it’s normally soft, but I’ll be sure to add No Rinse to the microfibre next time, cheers

I seen a video using a heat gun to remove bird 🦅 poop etching. What do you think of it? I know it’s risky, but heating up the clear coat and getting it soft may be like floating concrete with a low pile microfiber towel and leveling the clear coat like applying ceramic coating. See if you can get a test panel and do your forensics testing. Let us know what you think about it and if it’s even worth doing that type of leveling the clear coat.

soak it out for 30 mins with a wet sponge and wipe away mate. if its etched the paint machine polish it with something like scholl 20 black and a foam pad.

@@ForensicDetailing What about using a bug remover? Would that help? First of all, is it safe to use a bug remover on bird poop?

Anti insect spray works nicely then spray car shampoo and hose all away.. Never scrub

Dont use the big red sponge even though it has tem slits better off using a microfiber

I find the ONR system works really well with a sponge... I know it feels wrong but the chemical cushioning from the products works and the sponge then becomes a cool medium to clean with...

Yeah, I use the Zymöl Sponge with ONR because it is safe and still cheap. Remember though, to stay away from the silicone ones (the one yellow one you showed looked like one)! They are 'dangerous' because the dirt is rolling between the sponge and the surface.

Can't leave the sponge on my car... Got a serious strike by a gull that ran down by side window and down the door... It's about a 6" wide strip of doo doo that runs down the entire height of the door!
