Saw your video on making one for your van First question did you put ring connectors on for battery in van and also for connecting it the trickle charger too? Second question DoesThe section you leave in grill of van does that create a battery drain?
On the van I have a short lead with ring connectors at one end connected to the battery at the other end I use a waterproof connector to "disconnect" from the charger leaving the male connector in the grill to prevent anything shorting the terminals together. The section that stays in the grill can't drain the battery as it is open circuit until you connect the charger which then completes the circuit.
@@50plusdad-uk Thanks for getting back That’s what I was hoping you would of said I use a battery tender and it has a built in connector that you can disconnect basically does the same thing I actually prefer your method I’m going to do a retrofit
@@Trackhoe075 Glad it helped, you can also use a second female connector as a cap to stop water ingress while driving, don't fit any terminals and silicone the cable entry then when you disconnect from the charger plug it on.
I am still having difficulty with this as I created a strong paper clip version of the tool and it only wants to partially pull the red lock up. You are also saying not to yank at it either. I feel I am breaking down the red plastic material on the sides to grip underneath.
You don't have to pull it out completely, Have you tried using the small drill bit at 1:22 or a thin flat piece of metal at 4:37 when you find the little lever gently push the cable forward, lift the lever and then pull the cable back. This takes the pressure of the lever so it can move away from the terminal, think of it like trying to unlock a gate latch while someone is pulling the gate open, the latch is hard if not impossible to move. some manufacturers release from the front some the back, it's worth checking with light and magnifying glass to see which you have.👍
@@50plusdad-uk I managed to do it for 6 pairs of HID cables, I had to leverage my paperclip handle with my tiny flathead screwdriver and pull hard enough to pop the safety red clip. Out of 12 attempts for this style of connector I only broke 2 red safety clips. They broke on the fragile stem piece. Don’t tug too hard, but hard enough to loosen it.
Pfff, my luck: Can get the red lockpiece up but doesn't unlock the tab that holds the pin. After putting in a little metalpiece from the back the tab seems broken as it doesn't hold the new pins anymore. Tried it on 5 connecters. All the same issue's😂
