Sounds exactly like a WRX boxer engine rumble. Incredible. Yamaha Raider has the best sounding low bass exhaust in the market once the baffle is removed.
Great video. Pretty straightforward. I would suggest using a slide hammer attached to a pair of vice grips to remove the baffles after you are done with the hole saw. It makes life easier.
Great idea, I wish I'd know about that one before learning some things the hard way. The first one actually came out really easy with the vice-grips (once I'd finally drilled far enough). It wasn't nearly as difficult as some of the other videos I've seen, where the tech really had to fight it. The heat insulation on the second baffle got snagged on a bur and was much more of a fight because of it. The slide-hammer would've been another tool for me to buy, but would've made baffle #2 so much easier!
Nice sound and video content, but please find out how much sound dbs the bike is making, if it's 80+ you need to tone it down, your hearing will be in danger of damage on long rides...
Thankyou for the info. I think I'll be pulling mine out soon. Did you have do do any thing to the big after you took out the baffles? Did you need to tune it?
I haven't tuned mine and the pop/crackle on deceleration is minimal. My guess is that it's only running ever so slightly rich, but not nearly enough to worry about.
Not for me but my problem is that it make a hissing when on charge. Doesn’t do on neutral. It does more when it’s cold. It’s like when we blow on an empty bottle except it’s a wavy sound. Don’t want to change the whole pipes. They are way too expensive. I don’t know what to do. Maybe try to clean inside with round metal brush
Maybe double check the exhaust clamp and gasket. That's a weird sound that I haven't come across with or without the baffles. An exhaust leak hitting the chrome exhaust covers could make some funny noises though.
ChaseEllisVoice you know what? For the clamps, no but even though I hear it in the back, I’ll have it check the gaskets. Never know! Because it sound like when we blow in the bottle but in a wavy matter. And it happen only on charge. I tried on neutral with the throttles and nothing. Three years ago, it was happening in falls when it was colder only. And year after year, it went from the first ride out of the day to regular. Don’t want to change the pipes. This model is like one whole part.
I did do a quick sound test with only one baffle removed. It sounded awful. As far as damage goes, I'm going to say yes, it would be damaging over time. It would cause there to be two majorly different levels of back-pressure, plus the ecm would be trying to correct two noticeably different fuel mixtures. Maybe it would be fine, but with those things in mind, I wouldn't even risk it.
@@ChaseEllisVoice It's 2-into-1-into-2 exhaust not a 2 into 2 exhaust. Notice the rear heat shields are one piece; that's to cover up that the exhausts merges there to put both pipes through the EXUP valve and then they diverge again into two.
