How To Remove Johnson / Evinrude Flywheel & Nut 

I am fighting a 2006 Merc 90hp stuck flywheel, WD40 ed, impact gunned, steel hammer tapped, then watched your video, 5 min later, the rubber mullet did the trick, Thanks a million.

Nice job, went fishing on lake erie today. My 1995 evenrude 200hp was great then 1/4 mile fron the ramp the magneto went out. You just helped a bunch with this video. Good luck 👍

I’ll order that puller. I tried with regular puller as you did and the same happened first bent the bolts and shaft in the center from puller and doesn’t come out the flywheel. Thanks for every single video Sr, so helpful

Brandon do you know what to torque the head bolts at on a evinrude 150 horsepower

I have an '85 9.9 Evinrude and I bought the puller you recommended. But I cannot get the nut off in order to use the puller. How do I get the flywheel to stay in place in order to loosen the nut with my socket wrench. I have tried the rope method and the crescent wrench clamped onto flywheel (not on the teeth), but it still turns with my socket wrench. I assume it should be in neutral when removing the nut. Thanks for your help.

Great video. The OEM manual list using OMC gasket sealing compound. Can I sub Permatex 80019 Aviation Form-A-Gasket No. 3 Sealant for this. Also this might be a stupid question but I didn’t see this addressed in the manual-does the sealing compound just go on the threads of the flywheel nut? Thanks

i have a question .... i have a friend .. he have a vro 110 hp johnson and he was running and hit the bottom .. the motor die . he can't get it to start. is that possible the stator die at the time he hit the rock .... i test it and no spark on all four cylinder. do you think the power pack or the stator..... please help

I just picked up a free omc v4 and its missing the nut holding the flywheel. Do you if it takes a special nut, are they all the same, I have no idea what year this engine is. thanks.

I have a 70hp johnson and have tried everything to get the flywheel off and cant get it ti budge. Heated the fly wheel, soaked in pen oil and WD40 and tightended it so tight it is bending my industial puller bar. Tapped it with a hammer on the puller bolt and no luck This thing is like welded on.

When you re-install how do you know the correct positioning of the flywheel in order to ensure the timing marks are correct?

hey there my crank shaft bolt is totally stripped to the point where my fly wheel nut wont go on....any ideas on how to fix that or should i just get one of those things like the tap and dies to fix it or do i just change the crank shaft? idk what to do but you should make a video on the crank shaft or if the bolt is stripped idk lol thanks

I don't recommend this, but another way to get that nut off without a flywheel holder is to seize the Pistons by overheating the engine.
