Just want to say thank you. I watched this and another one of your videos to replace drive belt on LT155. While it did take me 5 hours to do because it was 100*. I know i saved about $400 in service fees and 10 day turnaround from local JD service center. Again many thanks.
Glad to hear my videos helped you out! And you absolutely did save yourself $$$ in the process. Thank you for watching my videos and the kind comment. Please share my channel with your friends to help it grow! It would be greatly appreciated.
It is amazing what you do with one hand. You are such an inspiration. My son who is also named Brad, recently cut three fingers off of his right hand, which is his working hand, in April. But yesterday he replaced the drive belt on my JD 150 after seeing your video. God Bless You!
I’m sorry to hear about your sons fingers, but glad to hear he was able to take care of the mower. He just has to keep a positive mental attitude and he’ll be fine. Thank you for the kind comment and sharing.

Nice to find this! I have the LT160 which is basically the same mower except a 42 inch deck. It's all clogged with grass clippings so I need to remove the deck and clean it up, and then re-level it.
I’m glad you found it and yes this should be the same as yours. Thank you for watching and the kind comment. Please give this video a thumbs up, subscribe and tell your friends to help my channel grow. It would be greatly appreciated.
Clearcut video! I’m going to change the deck belt on my old LT160 and need to know which belt to buy as well. The one the JD store showed me looks totally different with no inside teeth (unless mine is just old and cracked like serpentine car belts do) and it’s beige fabric instead of black rubber. Don’t want to attempt this until I have right part. Thank you if you could answer this for an old lady! lol

Perfect I got an Lt155 passed down to me when my brother in law got a zero turn Cub Cadet he didn't show me how take the deck off so I can change the blades

Thanks! Ken. I also download "How to install the transmission drive belt" on Saturday. This video goes with the other. Thank you for supporting the channel, watching and commenting!
Great video as always. I want to ask a question. Will it hurt my cub cadet if I ride it in the snow on my driveway? I just want to break up the snow and ice. I have the deck as high as it will go, and it doesn't touch the snow. I am not running the blades. Thanks.
My opinion, not a good idea to put a tractor in the snow and ice. Moisture is a huge enemy of equipment and if there is any chance of the machine to collect salt from the plow truck that salts your road, it will ruin the machine. I know you said it was just your drive way but I would not take a chance.
Thank you! I'm glad it was helpful and thank you for the kind comment. Please give this video like and share my channel to help it grow. It would be greatly appreciated!
Hi Brad. A question please: I bought a used LT150 with hydro tranny. All the wheels have the valve stems on the inside. Why would the previous owner do this? Is there any reason I shouldn’t try to flip them the other way? Thanks very much.
That was a factory thing back in the day. Not sure what made them do that. Yes, you can try and see if it will work turning them around. If the tire rubs on the axle then the rims only go one way but I’m pretty sure the should be able to be turned around.
HELP! Super great perfect video... very similar year to the LT150 my dad gave me, so step by step I followed along and did just what you said... last step there was this spring that you didn't mention, but it seemed I could just unhook it, so I did but then it shot out apart from wherever else it was hooked on and now I don't know where it goes. Do you have any idea what this spring thing is and where it should go? It's about 4-5 inches of coil with a hook on each end. Lort. I think one end might go on that spring pulley thing but I don't know where the other end goes AND I don't know if I should have it down or up to more easily attach it (once I figure out where to hook it). Other than that, I took my deck off THANKS TO YOU, I put a new mower belt on, and I put the deck back on so I'm eager to mow the jungle in my yard (without having to use the pusher yo).... it's just this spring. I'm sure that''s important right? :P
I don’t have a LT to look at but I think it’s the spring that keeps tension on the blade engagement rod in the back that goes from the rod in the rear straight up to a eyelet in the bottom part of the fender deck. I know you will not know what I am talking about but I think if it’s that spring then you do not need it. If you can send a picture to my email address on my “about page” I may be able to look at it to see if I’m correct or not?
@@JohnsonsSmallEngines not surprisingly, I think you ARE right! I found that finally in a picture in a manual and was going to be my next attempt at finding where it goes. All this time, I had been seeing other models with the same type of spring but connected to the tension pulley mount on one end and the deck body on the other, but this model doesn't seem to have a logical hole on the tension pulley. I quit searching for specific terms and just started searching for visuals like it in any and all of the instructional pictures or videos LOL... I'll email you. Thanks so much for your response. I watched entirely too many videos about tractors this week, but yours was the best by far (and yes, I liked it and saved it). I don't have a big 'tractor friend' following, but I'll share it as well. :)
Will changing the position of the pin on the blade engagement rod change the tension on the belt? I have a new belt that squeals when engaging the blades.
I think the blade engagement rod can be adjusted but your squeal may be normal. Try running the engine at half throttle then engage the blades. Then bring speed up after you are fully engaged. It may help.
Hi Brad. Do you by any chance have the dimensions for the spindle bearings for the LT150 38 inch deck? I would like to just replace the bearings (this is not a cast aluminum housing) but I don't know the dimensions. The spindle is John Deere AM128048. They don't just sell the bearings and they are $92 each. Thanks.
The old bearings have numbers on them that will let you purchase the same new bearings. Take one of the bearings out of the blade hub and clean it off. You should see the numbers on the bearing which will cross to new bearings.
I'm glad I can help! I'm not sure but you may have grease fittings on the hub and if you do? after installing the new bearings, fill the entire hub with grease. If you do not have grease fittings on the hubs then remember to fill the hub full before putting in the last bearing into each hub. I always suggest, try not to wash your machines as it will ruin bearings. I'm not saying you do but just try and keep the water away!! Thank you for supporting my channel!
Hi Brad. I have this exact mower here is Australia. I'm having an issue where the deck lift pedal is stuck in the locked position. Even If I put all my weight onto this pedal it doesn't budge and therefore I cannot unlock/drop the deck (currently "locked"). Any suggestions ?
It’s tough without seeing the machine. I can remember that the plastic lock lever sometimes has to be moved a certain way to be able to unlock the lift and make sure you have the height dial at the lowest position. The plastic lock handle may be the issue?
I cannot diagnose that without seeing it. Which pulley? Are all the guides on and working properly? It cannot be a new deck? A used new deck? I don’t think they make the LT decks any longer. If it’s used, something could be wrong with it? Missing belt covers?? Too many things to say. Would need to see it to correctly figure it out.
