How to remove Plasma Dross or Slag from your plasma cut parts.

In this video, I explain the best method that I've found for removing the dross from plasma cut parts. This applies to both hand cut parts and cnc plasma cut parts. The technical term for the material left behind after plasma cutting is dross, but most of us use the term slag, probably because it sounds cooler LOL.

I gotta try that. I recently purchased a cheap plasma cutter and made a memorial plaque for my recently departed friend. It needs lots of cleaning up, and this seems to be just the ticket.

a bit nitpicking...: Dross is a residue that is left on the surface of molten metal, while slag is the material that separates from molten metal. Nice way to remove/clean the part. (however when cutting a lot of parts isn't the first thing to do : change the settings to prevent the dross and/or slag ?!?!? >> increase or decrease cut speed/Raise or lower the torch height/Reduce or increase current and check the nozzle it is clean ?? saves a lot of work :) :) :)

What grit were you to sand the parts? 80? 120? Also, it looks like the disc you were using was much larger than the 4.5" disc you linked from amazon. What size were you using?

I use two different size discs, 4in and 7in, mounted on two different grinders. I've found 80 grit work best . Thanks for watching!
