From what I hear, yeah.... the second production run should have most of the issues fixed. I received a new gantry arm and frame. However, the frame still has an issue and I posted several videos on how to take the slop out of it. It's a heavy model and the main boom weights a ton lol.
I've done all I could to fix the frame and it's pretty tight now and doesn't flop around anymore so as long as everything works well I'll leave it like it is. I posted several videos of the fix.
Hey there how you doing? Yeah I've had some things to take care of and it took all my money I had for the 2800. So I'm just paying down my card so I can get another model. Haven't had anything to post lately but alls well. Shouldn't be much longer and I'll have something to post.
Not yet...I though they'd be here by April. I think someone has the Mammoet version available but I'm hooked on the Legacy version. I think I've mentioned how much I love the black booms 😆🥰
John do you know anyone that makes custom brass or metal cylinders for model cranes? I would like to either get someone to make a couple or try making one myself…
Hi Ben. YCC is the only one I know that makes metal cylinders. They have a lot of different applications too. I got the 11200 and 1050 cylinders from them. A machinist in Canada was making them for the 1600 but YCC came out with them so he made only one production run. If you're not familiar with YCC you have to create an account to order anything.
@@lvdrums I like the YCC ones but they don’t make one for everything out there. I just got the new Conrad Grove GMK 4100L-2 and it has that plastic cylinder with the metal collar that tightens down on it. I’ve had it a week and it’s already stripped out the plastic cylinder jacket. If you even overtighten it just slightly… bam it strips out
Oh boy...that's so typical of these plastic pieces of junk. The CC3800 has plastic as well but the are threaded and the rod screws in it. They are the only ones that work from the manufacturers. I wish they'd do it on every model and we wouldn't be having to machine tougher ones. I don't know anyone else right now so if you're good at machining there's others with that same Grove model with the same problem. I was selling the cylinders the guy in Canada was making for 25 a pair. We were just into it to get them to as many people as possible to fix their 1600s and make his money back for the materials he bought. Sure works killer on mine. Only other possible place I can think of is the Facebook model group and classified sales group. Try searching in the Facebook groups for 1/50 scale model classified ads. Good luck my friend!
@@lvdrums I’ll see what I can come up with. It makes you almost just want to buy WSI models because all of the Conrad and NZG models have plastic cylinders. So frustrating when you pay top dollar for a nice model.
Oh brother I hear that! Not only do I feel the same as you but everyone I'm connected to here says that same thing. You're absolutely right....900 plus dollars for a model shouldn't have any problems like this. If one manufacturer can do it and be profitable, then all manufacturers can do it and still be profitable. Perhaps we all need to let these companies know how many of us are out here and what they need to do. I'm pretty tired of booms falling with cheap plastic cylinders. Tension collars in every one of them suck. You can't fully extend all the booms, you definitely don't want to put a load on it, and I don't like them that much in travel mode. If you end up making them I'll help you get the word out.
I'm not surprised Helena lol. That's a lattice boom setup and with a luffing jib kit and a mast and ballast tray kit, it's easy to see 16 configurations would be possible. That's a beautiful model and I want one pretty bad. I do love the lattice boom on anything
Yeah I get text messages too. I give my email address to people so I can exchange pictures since we can't add pictures or video on this comment section. 623-208-9203
