How to remove s-type threaded keg stem valve

THANK YOU! I have looked everywhere for a video on how to remove these from the threaded S type kegs. All the other videos I've seen were with the exposed retaining ring.

Frequently there is a stainless steel circlip stopping unscrewing if the main body (when you use the lugs)

Why can't you just remove the spring afterwards and never have this issue again?

Great, only took me an hour lol! Could have been 10 mins if I'd realised that the nub with an S marked on it was the one with the clip underneath 🤦‍♂️

Rob, after removing the stem valve couldn't you then disable the spring so the keg valve would be easier to remove from that point on? This way it could be used to refill the keg for home brew. Thanks JK

THIS IS NOT HOW YOU REMOVE THESE SPEARS. What he is doing with those screw drivers is damaging the keg and ruining the seals. After the spear is unscrewed, simply place a quarter over the ball valve, then tap the keg with a coupler. This will compress the spring in the spear and release the safety catch.

My god that is so lame and brute … you just need a couple of washers under the middle of your coupler to get a little lower. With those little ones, you just use a screwdriver to open the middle part down, see where that thingy is and pull it in with a second screwdriver.
