100% just push the gasket down and then twist the lid. It'll pop down and you can remove. Then you can grind down the lip on the lock and use it as a lid. Great vessel to store stuff if you don't mangle the gasket.
They sell kegs full of beer from all around the world here, i drink a lot of German beers, i drank that keg a few years ago and had it in my shed forever until i found someone that needed it for a keg still.
Most kegs made in the last 30 years are stainless, the aluminum ones are rare and worth money to collectors. Every keg you see me mess with is stainless.
